Shatrughan Sinha supports a nation-wide ban on non-vegetarian food, speaks on the implementation of UCC: ‘Beef has been banned in many parts’ | Hindi Movie News

Shatrughan Sinha is known to be very vocal about his opinions and now the actor-turned-politician has backed a nation-wide ban on non-vegetarian food. Uttarakhand has implemented a UCC (Uniform Civil Code) on January 27 and is the first state to do so. This implementation is in order to establish single set of laws for all religious communities that covers matters like marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption.
While backing his support for the ban of non-veg, Sinha also reacted to this UCC and if it should be implemented in other states as well. Speaking about the ban on non-veg food, he said, while addressing the media outside the parliament, “Beef has been banned in many parts of the country. I think that not only beef but non-vegetarian food in general should be banned in the country. However, in some places, it is still legal to consume beef, including in the Northeast. Waha khao toh yummy, par humare North India mein khao toh mummy.”
Further hailing the UCC, he added, “Implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand is prima facie commendable. UCC must be there in the country, and I am sure everyone will agree with me. But there are many fine prints and loopholes in this. Thus, an all-party meeting must be held before drafting UCC provisions. Everyone should be consulted for their opinions and thoughts on the issue.”
