Amy Adams Addresses Rachel Brosnahan Taking On The Lois Lane Role In James Gunn’s Superman And Whether She’s Seen The Movie Trailer Yet

DCEU Lois Lane actor Amy Adams shares her thoughts on Rachel Brosnahan’s DCU casting in James Gunn’s Superman. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are the two central stars of Superman‘s main cast, as the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane promises to be an essential element of James Gunn’s Superman movie. After her introduction, Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane is likely to make multiple appearances in multiple Metropolis-based DCU projects. Prior to the DCU, Amy Adams played Lois Lane in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and both cuts of Justice League.

As Amy Adams explains, Rachel Brosnahan embodies every aspect Lois Lane is known for in the source material and the movies. Every live-action Lois Lane actor has left their mark on the character with their unique take on Superman’s closest ally, including Amy Adams in the DCEU. Rachel Brosnahan won’t be the exception. In particular, Brosnahan’s portrayal of the titular character in The Marvelous Ms. Maisel displays everything a good Lois Lane needs to shine in a Superman movie, including a remarkable cunning and a brilliant sense of humor.

Rachel Brosnahan Will Likely Have More Chances To Shine In The DCU Than Amy Adams Did In the DCEU

Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane has a bright future ahead in James Gunn’s DCU due to her actor’s talent and the qualities of the blooming franchise. However, that doesn’t mean that Amy Adams did a bad job as the DCEU’s Lois Lane. Amy Adams is a well-respected actor with dozens of award nominations under her belt. Unfortunately, the DCEU faced various obstacles and went through a few drastic changes from its inception in 2013 until its conclusion in 2023. Adams’ Lois Lane got increasingly relegated to a minor supporting character, and she was abandoned altogether as the DCEU distanced itself from Henry Cavill’s Superman. The DCU’s Lois will avoid the same treatment.

James Gunn’s Superman and the rest of the DCU also has the chance to give Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane a more significant presence and a more complex character arc. Lois’ bright intellect can be of great help to Superman in his battles, and her close relationship with the Man of Steel can be explored more deeply both in her career and her personal life. Superman seems to be putting more focus on the Daily Planet, which is a great sign for interesting interactions between Lois Lane and an undercover Clark Kent parallel to Superman’s world-saving antics.
