Director Sean Baker has revealed that his mother didn’t approve of his script for Anora. The story follows an exotic dancer who meets and quickly marries Ivan, the son of a Russian oligarch. During his acceptance speech, Baker claimed that his mother wouldn’t agree with their choice, and revealed that she didn’t even make it through his previous film, Red Rocket.
