Babygirl has become an all-time hit for A24. The independent studio and distributor’s newest movie is an erotic thriller written and directed by Bodies Bodies Bodies‘ Halina Reijn that follows a CEO (Nicole Kidman) beginning an illicit affair with an intern (Harris Dickinson) while exploring her identity and her sexual proclivities. The Babygirl release kicked off on Christmas Day 2024, debuting at the No. 7 spot on the domestic chart, a position that made it the third-best of the holiday frame’s new releases, which also included Nosferatu (No. 3), A Complete Unknown (No. 6), and The Fire Inside (No. 10).
Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, Babygirl is projected to take in a 3-day gross of $4.6 million at the domestic box office by the end of its second weekend in theaters. This will bring its cumulative domestic total to $16.2 million, drawing closer to its reported $20 million budget. This also sees it surpass MaXXXine‘s domestic box office total of $15.1 million to make it No. 19 on The Numbers‘ chart of the highest-grossing A24 domestic releases of all time.
