Pedro Pascal promises the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu is one of the best Star Wars adventures yet while at Star Wars Celebration 2025. Pascal plays Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian, and in 2026, he’ll take the television character to the big screen with the highly anticipated movie. Plot details remain closely under wraps, but it will pick up after the ending of The Mandalorian season 3, which saw Din Djarin adopt Grogu as his own and settle down with him following the defeat of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).
While speaking to Extra at Star Wars Celebration, where ScreenRant is also in attendance, Pascal set some high expectations for The Mandalorian & Grogu. He praised director Jon Favreau and added that the movie will be “one of the greatest adventure movies in the canon of all of cinema.” He also touched upon how the movie evolved from a television show. Check out his full comments below:
I think that ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will be one of the greatest adventure movies in the canon of all of cinema. I think Jon Favreau is a genius, and the way that it has evolved from a special cinematic experience that was episodic and that you could experience in your own home, the way that they nailed that kind of special, special viewing experience is exactly as grand as it’s gonna be. They will provide one of the best adventures that we’ve seen since, I would say, the first ‘Star Wars’ movie was introduced to the world.
Pedro Pascal Is Raising The Bar High
The Mandalorian & Grogu Was Already Going To Be Closely Scrutinized
In many ways, The Mandalorian & Grogu‘s release is a notable milestone for the Star Wars franchise. Not only will it be the first movie to arrive after 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, it will also be the first to be born from the Disney+ television shows. For those reasons alone, The Mandalorian & Grogu will be closely scrutinized, and that’s not even counting the fact that all Star Wars projects these days are hotly debated by fans. It’s understandable that Pascal would feel passionately about his own movie, but it also sets the bar quite high.
The Mandalorian & Grogu also stars Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, who will play Jabba the Hutt’s son.
So far, though, it seems the actor is smart to feel so confident. Though season 3 earned a more mixed reaction, the Mandalorian show is a fan-favorite and generally well-regarded among viewers. One would hope the creative team would be able to channel that success onto the big screen as well. That Lucasfilm pushed forward with the movie at all while several other projects struggle through development further indicates The Mandalorian & Grogu just might be the hit Pascal suggests it will be.
Our Take On The Mandalorian & Grogu
We Have Good Reason To Be Excited
It’s hard not to get swept up in Pascal’s own excitement about The Mandalorian & Grogu. It promises to be a very different kind of Star Wars movie while also being rooted in characters we already know and love. Additionally, Favreau has proven himself to be a skilled director, between kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man and helming one of the most well-regarded Disney live-action remakes, 2016’s The Jungle Book. If Pascal feels good about The Mandalorian & Grogu, it’s a good sign that Star Wars‘ big screen future is bright once again.
