Doomsday Set Photos Reveal Damaged X-Mansion After A Sentinel Battle

The X-Men’s role in Avengers: Doomsday starts to become more clear. When the cast of Avengers: Doomsday was revealed, several expected names were among those announced by Marvel, such as Thor actor Chris Hemsworth or Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. However, the studio had its fair share of surprises, with the most notable being the inclusion of many stars from Fox’s original X-Men franchise, with names like Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and more. Now, the X-Men’s role in the film gets its biggest tease since the cast was announced, showing what role they could play in Avengers: Doomsday‘s story.

A new Avengers: Doomsday set photo shared by @UnBoxPHD on Twitter appears to show the aftermath of a battle with the sentinels at the X-Mansion. Previously, @UnBoxPHD shared a closer look at a sentinel on the Avengers movie set. The sentinels are some of the most powerful foes the X-Men face in the comics, Fox’s X-Men movies, Marvel Studios’ X-Men ’97, and pretty much every adaptation of the mutants. While the new Avengers: Doomsday set photo might not show any heroes, it reveals that the X-Mansion will seemingly get destroyed or badly damaged by sentinels in the upcoming MCU movie.

What The Avengers: Doomsday X-Mansion Set Photos Mean

The X-Men Should Play A Sizable Role In The Avengers Movie

The Marvels‘ post-credits scene was the first sign that the X-Men were coming to the MCU. After Monica Rambeau got stuck in another universe, she woke up to see a version of Kelsey Grammer’s Beast on the X-Mansion, with the character telling her that he would update Charles Xavier on the situation. With Monica stuck in that universe, it is possible that her presence will cause an incursion between Earth-616 and the X-Men’s Earth. Due to that, when Avengers: Doomsday announced that several X-Men were returning, it made sense, as they should have a big role to play.

Marvel Studios has revealed several Avengers: Doomsday characters, and between heroes and villains, this is the order of how powerful they are.

The new Avengers: Doomsday X-Mansion set photos explore just how big of a role the team will have, as they should also have story beats separate from the Avengers, Doctor Doom, and multiversal issues. That is because the sentinels are some of the most common, yet powerful, enemies the X-Men face. Based on the sentinels’ parts scattered throughout the X-Mansion’s yard, an army of them will seemingly land at the iconic location before the X-Men destroy them. The action sequence could help set up where the X-Men are, their dynamics, and their powers, especially if it happens early on.

Marvel Studios Might Be Repeating A Recent X-Men Moment

x-men sentinel squad one

I couldn’t be more excited about the X-Men’s role in the MCU after seeing the Avengers: Doomsday set photos. The aftermath of the battle with the sentinels reminds me of how Marvel Studios masterfully used those villains to showcase the team’s powers in X-Men ’97 season 1. I feel like we could be in for a similar ride in the MCU movie, with the sentinel battle happening early in the film to get the fans up to speed on who does what within the X-Men and what their story is. Avengers: Doomsday juggles many characters, so explaining through action works.
