It’s True, Demon Slayer’s Best Movie Is Returning to Theaters In a Way Nobody Has Seen Before

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is officially coming back to theaters, and it’s offering fans something no one has ever seen before. Even after five years, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train remains the biggest anime movie of all time; not only is it the highest-grossing anime film, but its visuals and story are unmatched, and even with how much Demon Slayer’s story has grown, it’s still the franchise’s definitive high point.

There has never been an anime film quite like Mugen Train, and fans will have a chance to re-experience it in a brand-new way. The first film in the Infinity Castle trilogy will premiere in English-speaking territories this September, and to hype up its release, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train will receive an official 4K re-release in English theaters on May 14. Even without tying into Infinity Castle, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train getting this sort of treatment is nothing but great, and fans old and new would be remiss to pass it up.

Why Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s Re-Release Is A Must-Watch For Fans

Mugen Train Tickets Go On Sale April 30

Even though it’s just a re-release, Demon Slayer fans old and new shouldn’t pass up seeing Mugen Train in 4K. Even after five years, Mugen Train still has some of the most gorgeous art, animation, and overall direction of the Demon Slayer franchise and anime, as a whole, and as such, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train re-releasing in 4K gives people a chance to see its already gorgeous visuals look even better than before. There’s plenty of appeal in that, both for newcomers and people already invested in the series, and it’s the kind of thing that’s more than worth seeing.

The biggest draw to Mugen Train’s re-release, of course, is in its story. Demon Slayer excels as an anime thanks to the heart and the genuine sincerity its characters and overarching narrative exhibit at every turn, and between Tanjiro’s struggles and Rengoku’s fight with Akaza, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is a great film because it captures the core of what makes Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s story so great. The film remains one of the best representations of what makes Demon Slayer so special after so many years, and even if someone’s already seen it, it’s plenty worth experiencing again.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s Re-Release Is The Perfect Tie-In To Infinity Castle

Mugen Train Will Be Required Viewing For Infinity Train

Mugen Train’s 4K re-release will be great, and that’s especially because of how it ties into Infinity Castle. While the exact content of each Infinity Castle movie is unknown, each film will likely cover each major battle in the arc, so the first film should end with Tanjiro and Giyu’s battle with Akaza. Akaza, of course, appeared in Mugen Train’s climax and killed Rengoku, so Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s re-release is great because it can serve as a precursor to Tanjiro’s fight with Akaza in Infinity Castle, something that’s bound to be incredibly cathartic after so many years.

It should be noted that in Japan, all of the compilation films will be re-released in theaters alongside Mugen Train in the lead-up to Infinity Castle’s premiere, so if the same happens in the West, then Mugen Train’s re-release loses much of its thematic meaning. Even if that does happen, however, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train receiving a 4K re-release will always be exciting because of its incredible story and how the animation will be even more gorgeous to behold, and even if someone’s already seen Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, it’s an event no one should pass up.
