What This Means For Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie

2026’s Thankgiving Just Got Interesting

Based on Leonie Swann’s 2005 novel, Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story, with a script from The Last of Us co-creator, Craig Mazin, the movie stars Cranston (Breaking Bad) in an undisclosed role. Joining the Deadpool & Wolverine star and Cranston in the ensemble cast are Emma Thompson (Matilda the Musical), Nicholas Braun (Succession), Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Wonka), Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones), Mandeep Dhillon (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), and others.

Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective‘s new release date also means that the movie is up for tough competition around the same 2026 release window. Lionsgate’s Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to hit theaters on November 20, and an untitled Disney Animation film is set to follow on November 25, while Netflix plans a limited IMAX release for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia movie on Thanksgiving Day.

Our Take On Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective’s Pre-Thankgiving Release

Three Bags Full Shows Promise

While the movie’s production status remains unclear, it does seem like the studios have a lot of faith in the new action comedy. The movie’s already-announced star-studded cast and crew doesn’t hide the fact that it has a strong team behind the production (and potentially a big budget). The release delay also doesn’t sound like a bad thing, but a strong indication of the film’s potential. The studios’ move to pull more families in for the theatrical release also hints that Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie might not feature a lot of violence or gore despite centering around a murder mystery in its central plot.
