A Taylor Sheridan action movie called F.A.S.T. is finally moving forward after years of delays, and a 1923 star is already attached. Sheridan is best known as the creator of the Yellowstone universe of shows at Paramount. The main series and its spinoffs, which include 1883 and 1923, have all been major hits for the network, and Sheridan has used the cachet from that property to make other shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Lioness, which have all also been successful in terms of viewership.
THR reports that F.A.S.T. has now landed at Warner Bros. and is on the fast track, with a theatrical release date already set for April 23, 2027. Sheridan wrote the script for the action thriller back in the mid-2010s, but an evolving theatrical and studio landscape kept the project from coming to fruition. Brandon Sklenar, who stars as Spencer Dutton on 1923 has been tapped to play the lead in F.A.S.T. The synopsis for the movie is as follows:
F.A.S.T. concerns a former special forces commando, down on his luck after he returns Stateside, who is tapped by the DEA to lead a black op strike team against CIA-protected drug dealers in his town.
The THR report notes that F.A.S.T.‘s budget has not yet been set, but it will likely be less than $65 million, which was the figure originally attached to the film in the 2010s. In addition to having written the script, Sheridan will produce the film. Ben Richardson, who served as director and cinematographer on 1923 is also attached.Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy shared a statement about F.A.S.T., which is included below:
