Director Robert Eggers addresses Nosferatu‘s box office success after its Christmas release led the horror movie to over $100 million worldwide.
During an interview with The Daily Beast, Eggers addressed Nosferatu‘s box-office success:
I’m absolutely surprised. And obviously, it’s a pleasant surprise. The thing that I’m most excited about with the film’s success at the box office at the moment is just that I had creative freedom and support the whole time. That’s exciting, and I hope that it’s helpful for other filmmakers. Let’s see.
Nosferatu is a remake of the 1922 silent film of the same name from director F. W. Murnau. Robert Eggers is crafting his own version of the story for the reboot as writer and director, with Bill Skarsgård stepping into the shoes of Count Orlok. Nosferatu tells the tale of a young woman who falls victim to a vampire utterly infatuated with her.
