The 2017 Power Rangers reboot (Saban’s Power Rangers) features all the main characters from the original television series, with a new set of talented cast members portraying the franchise’s beloved characters. Loosely based on “Day of the Dumpster,” the pilot of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, 2017’s Power Rangers had a budget of $100‒105 million and was expected to reignite interest in the franchise. However, despite having immense potential, the film failed to leave its mark at the box office and only earned $142.5 million.
Even from a critical standpoint, the Power Ranger movie received divisive reactions from viewers and critics and currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of 51%. Although the film did not perform as well as it was expected to, it is worth watching because of how it effectively expands the franchise’s lore while serving as an effective gateway for new audiences. At the same time, its roster also includes many familiar actors who do a commendable job of portraying their respective heroic and villainous characters
