The release date for Practical Magic 2 has been revealed, alongside the movie’s first teaser. The original 1998 movie Practical Magic focuses on the story of two witch sisters who have to face their small town’s close-mindedness as they are threatened by a curse that says they may never find true love. The movie was led by Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, with a supporting cast that included Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, Aidan Quinn, and Evan Rachel Wood. Practical Magic 2 was announced to be in development last year.
Now, Warner Bros. has announced a release date for Practical Magic, which is now slated for September 18, 2026. The announcement was coupled with the release of a short teaser for the sequel film.
The teaser had text on screen accompanying words read by Kidman and Bullock, beginning with “Tooth of wolf and morning dew, something old and something new.” As they spoke in unison, the duo revealed, “let the spell begin to mix, September 18, 2026.” Warner Bros. also reminded viewers that they can still watch the original movie on Max.
What This Means For Practical Magic 2
The Plot Is Still Largely Unknown
This release date means that Practical Magic 2 will be arriving nearly three full decades after the original movie was released. Instead of reimagining the story with different leads, the update further confirms that the sequel will see Bullock and Kidman return to their roles. The exact plot has yet to be revealed, but the movie will likely chronicle the lasting impact of the curse. Perhaps the teaser’s “something old and something new” teases the bringing together of original and restored concepts of yesteryear.

As for other crew members, the original movie’s screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman, is confirmed to be returning for the sequel. Producers and other major talent have yet to be revealed.
Our Take On This Practical Magic 2 News
The Release Date Could Be Perfect Timing
This may be a genius choice of release date for Practical Magic 2. 2024 also saw the release of a Halloween-y sequel, with Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. That movie also came out in September, releasing on September 6, and was a box office success. It seems like this pre-Halloween autumn time could be ideal for a similar sequel. This could serve Practical Magic 2 well, boosting its box office potential.
