Timothée Chalamet’s 10 Best Moments From The 2025 Awards Season

It’s been quite the movie awards season for Timothée Chalamet, who’s won widespread acclaim and a major gong for his performance as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic A Complete Unknown. Chalamet has also faced some gentle ribbing about his youthful appearance and dedication to performing Dylan’s songs himself. But it’s the actor’s own antics over the past few months that have drawn the most attention, with his unusually irreverent approach to promoting his performance and the movie he’s in winning over the media and fans alike.

Barring one mic drop moment when he won Best Male Lead Actor at the 2025 SAG Awards in February, Chalamet doesn’t seem to have been taking himself the slightest bit seriously throughout A Complete Unknown’s awards campaign. He’s joked onscreen with reporters, commentators, and Adam Sandler, committed a traffic violation at a premiere of his movie, come to a lookalike contest as himself, and generally made a name for himself in ways few other actors would ever dare to. Timothée Chalamet’s award season highlights have ultimately been about having fun, and we’re here for it.

Timmy Knows How To Play The Game

Chalamet blew ESPN’s College GameDay team away with his football knowledge in early December. The actor adopted his best sports pundit voice to reel off a stunning list of form and player statistics, making carefully thought-out predictions for each of the conference championship week’s matchups.

Chalamet nailed every one of his hot football takes, before heading to a game with Matthew McConaughey.

Wearing a bright pink puffer jacket and his trademark pencil moustache, Chalamet should have been out of his depth alongside seasoned football commentators. Yet he nailed several of his hot football takes, before reuniting with his Interstellar co-star Matthew McConaughey and heading to a game.

Chalamet Thanks A Reporter For Interviewing Him With Her “Little Mic” On The Oscars Red Carpet

The Smallest Mic Drop Moment At The Academy Awards

It’s been an entire season of memeable interview moments from Timothée Chalamet on A Complete Unknown’s awards trail, but his pre-Oscars red carpet conversation with ABC’s Dancing with the Stars host Julianne Hough takes the biscuit. During the network’s 2025 Oscars Red Carpet Show, Hough awkwardly asked Chalamet if he had any dance moves. After he threw the question back to her, some cringeworthy patter about spinal adjustments followed, before the actor swiftly departed the scene.

Before he left, though, there was just enough time for a literal mic-drop, as Timmy made fun of the tiny microphone Hough was using to interview him. “Hey, thanks for interviewing me with the little mic,” he told her. Hough was left struggling for words, wondering whether she’d just been slighted or complemented.

Timothée Chalamet’s relationship with uber-famous Kardashian family member and billionaire cosmetics mogul Kylie Jenner is one of the most talked about on the planet, with the pair’s every move at this year’s Oscars ceremony covered in minute detail. It’s the deep cuts that are the marker of dedication to Timotheé Chalamet, and that’s been the case since he broke out as a young actor in the 2010s.

As the actor mentioned in his SAG victory speech, his mother, Nicole Flender, is a longtime employee of the stage actors’ union Actors’ Equity, and is one of the primary inspirations behind his career. It felt only right, then, that Flender got to see her son collect his first major acting award at the annual ceremony of the screen actors’ union, SAG. Sorry, Kylie. Maybe next time.

Adam Sandler Revives His “Chalamet!” SNL Bit At The Oscars

The Comedy Legend Was First Asked To Say Chalamet’s Name At This Year’s Golden Globes

Adam Sandler’s comedy bit was at the center of every highlights reel for the 2025 Oscars. The actor’s casual attire and laid back demeanor clashed hilariously with the pomp and tradition of the event. Sandler finished his Oscars cameo by shouting Timothée Chalamet’s name and hugging the actor, who was sitting in the front row with other nominees.

Oscars 2025 host Conan O’Brien has explained that this cameo was entirely Adam Sandler’s own idea.

This gag was a reference to Sandler’s introduction of Chalamet as host of Saturday Night Live weeks earlier, which was, in turn, a callback to a joke that Nikki Glaser had made while hosting the Golden Globes. Glaser told Chalamet that his name sounded like something Adam Sandler would say. Right on cue, Sandler, who was in the Globes audience, promptly shouted “Chalamet!” into the nearest microphone. He proved Glaser right, as Timmy’s last name somehow seemed to make more sense when Sandler said it.

Black Eyed Peas Meet Bob Dylan

Whatever hijinxs Timothée Chalamet had been up to earlier in this year’s movie awards season, nothing prepared anyone for the dance routine he unleashed in an Instagram Live video around Christmastime. Backed by the Black Eyed Peas’ club anthem and a giant screen flashing on and off with phrases of praise and affirmation interspersed with images of Bob Dylan, the actor went full exhibitionist.

Chalamet ripped off a tank top midway through his routine, and ended up doing hip thrusts on his back as the music gradually increased in speed. No one knew what to make of this performance, but one thing was for sure. An Oscar-worthy acting role had never been promoted in quite the same way before.

Bob Dylan talks into the microphone in A Complete Unknown

When Timothée Chalamet hosted Saturday Night Live in January, he didn’t just take part in the show’s comedy sketches. Chalamet also performed a selection of his favorite Bob Dylan songs in the style of the legendary singer, as he does in the movie A Complete Unknown. The songs Chalamet chose weren’t Dylan’s most celebrated songs, but rarities from the musician’s back catalogue, including the 1962 composition “Tomorrow Is a Long Time”, which didn’t see the light of day until many years after it was first recorded.

“Tomorrow Is a Long Long” was first released on Bob Dylan’s 1971 compilation album Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits Vol. II, even though it had never been a hit for the musician up to that point.

“Tomorrow Is a Long Time” had never been a hit for Bob Dylan, until Chalamet’s performance of the song on SNL introduced it to a whole new audience. Within a week, the track had reached number 29 on the iTunes Top 100 chart (via Showbiz 411). Clearly Timothée Chalamet wasn’t the only fan of this long-forgotten Dylan deep cut.

Chalamet was fined £65, according to his interview with the French talkshow Quotidien, which equates to about $79. The actor was a little sore about being charged a penalty for his stunt, since he claimed it was supposed to be good publicity for Lime bike rentals in London. Conan O’Brien later made light of the incident while hosting the 2025 Oscars, as he suggested that Chalamet wouldn’t be able to ride a bike home dressed in the outfit he’d chosen.

Arguably the greatest experience that Timothée Chalamet had during this year’s movie award season was being singled out for praise but the great Bob Dylan himself. Upon the release of A Complete Unknown, Dylan said he was sure that Chalamet was going to be “completely believable” as him, and called him “a brilliant actor.

Dylan posted his statement about Chalamet and his movie on X at the beginning of December, in a rare comment on anything remotely related to himself or his life. Chalamet responded that he was “floored” by the post, which surely must have been the ultimate validation of his performance as one of modern music’s all-time greats.

Never one to do what’s expected of him, Timothée Chalamet saved the best moment of his 2025 awards season for the acceptance speech he gave when receiving his first major acting prize, at the 2025 SAG Awards. “I know people don’t usually talk like that,” Chalamet said, “but I want to be one of the greats.” The audience of A-list stars in front of him sat in stunned silence, as he listed legendary actors Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as his biggest inspirations, along with athletes Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps.

This speech might have divided opinion, but it reinforced the general perception that here was an actor of unique talent and ambition, who isn’t going to be bound by the conventional rules of his industry. Timothée Chalamet has had one heck of an awards season, and he delivered its crowning moment in a way only he could.
