Disney’s live-action Snow White remake starring Rachel Zegler has been a critical and commercial misfire so far, so what does that mean for her career and what she’s doing next? Zegler burst onto the scene in 2021 with Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake. The breakout role propelled her to be viewed as a new emerging star for Hollywood, landing her high-profile roles with DC, the Hunger Games franchise, and then Disney’s live-action remake. Before all of Snow White’s controversies, the movie had expectations to be the biggest hit of her young career.
However, Snow White‘s box office performance has not gone that way. The movie has been a disappointment financially for Disney and is all but assured not to recoup its reportedly massive budget. The critical reception has only made matters worse. Snow White continues Rachel Zegler’s disappointing Rotten Tomatoes trend, as the movie’s 42% score makes it her third consecutive Rotten release. She’s officially in a rough stretch, even though she’s routinely the highlight of her projects. Just as Hollywood reacted to her early success, will Snow White‘s struggles also cause big reactions? Her career is still taking shape.
Rachel Zegler Does Not Have Any Confirmed Upcoming Movies Or TV Shows
Her Schedule Is Pretty Clear
Rachel Zegler caught fire in Hollywood for a few years, as she starred in West Side Story, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Y2K, Spellbound, and Snow White from 2021 to 2025. She was even supposed to be in Paddington in Peru before having to exit due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Studios were quick to cast her in several projects after West Side Story, but Snow White is the end of that initial wave of interest. Rachel Zegler is not officially attached to any upcoming movies or TV shows.

You Know What? Rachel Zegler Was The Perfect Choice To Play Snow White In Live-Action After 4 Years Of Debate
After four years of debate, Rachel Zegler has proven once and for all that she was the perfect choice to play the live-action Snow White.
In the absence of more movies or TV shows, Rachel Zegler does still have one upcoming production. She’s the star of Jamie Lloyd’s revival of Evita and will make her West End debut with the production, which runs from June to September this year, as she plays Eva Perón. The musical is a chance for Zegler to continue performing as she searches for additional movies or TV shows to be part of. It marks her return to the stage after making her Broadway debut in 2024 in Romeo + Juliet.
Is Rachel Zegler Taking A Break From Acting After Snow White?
The Actress Has Not Confirmed Her Future Plans
The lack of upcoming movie or TV roles may lead to questions about whether Rachel Zegler still plans to act after Snow White or take a break. She has not officially addressed her future either way. The fact that she’s still performing in stage musicals shows that she’s not abandoning any acting pursuits. Every expectation is that Rachel Zegler will be in more movies going forward. The reason for the lack of confirmed upcoming projects may just be due to her commitments to stage musicals or wanting to slow down a bit after a very busy few years.
Even if Zegler was planning an unofficial break from acting, she could have already started it. It’s been nearly a year since she filmed anything for Snow White, which was the last production she was part of. She has still done stage performances since then to keep her busy and do more of what she loves. Still, a break from being in movies has happened, intentionally or not.
It would be understandable if Zegler needed a break from Hollywood. The last few years have not been easy for her. She’s been routinely harassed online for a variety of reasons, ranging from simply being cast in some of these projects to her political views or advocacy. Zegler even responded to Snow White‘s casting backlash during the promotional tour for the movie’s release. A break from the Hollywood spotlight and social media would make sense after the constant attacks against her. But again, that’s perhaps why her upcoming movie slate is bare.
Rachel Zegler Deserves A Lot More Movie Roles After Snow White
Zegler Is A Star & Supremely Talented
Snow White might not have be the huge, well-received hit Rachel Zegler probably envisioned it would be when she signed up for the movie, but it does further demonstrate her star quality. Even most of the movie’s bad reviews can’t help but praise the work that she does. That has become somewhat common for the actress. Even if Rachel Zegler’s movies are not great, her performance typically is. She always does an excellent job bringing her characters to life, adding depth and emotion to them, and even delivering showstopping musical performances when that is required.
It’s wildly unfair to pin Snow White‘s underperformance on her
Her talent from West Side Story to Snow White isimpressive and should not be forgotten by Hollywood. The negative discourse about her online is unwarranted, even if her films can sometimes not deliver the box office totals or Rotten Tomatoes scores they should. Hollywood needs to support a young female star like Zegler instead of potentially creating distance from her after everything she’s had to deal with. It’s wildly unfair to pin Snow White‘s underperformance on her. If that happens and she’s not given more opportunities, I will be very disappointed.
What Movies Rachel Zegler Should Do Next After Snow White
There Are Plenty Of Options For Her
Since Zegler does not yet have any upcoming projects after Snow White, she’s got a wide-open schedule to find the perfect roles for her. There are a lot of different paths that she could take from here. The smartest thing for her would probably be to take on a variety of genres as she works with rising filmmakers in movies that aren’t associated with known IP. The next event film from Everything Everywhere All At Once directors The Daniels, a quirky comedy from Wes Anderson, and whatever Sofia Coppola has planned next could be some good options.
It would also be great if Zegler could reteam with Steven Spielberg at some point in the near future. His upcoming UFO movie is already fully cast, but Spielberg always has ideas for more films. A project that reunites them after West Side Story would be welcomed. And while Snow White may not have lived up to expectations, Rachel Zegler’s singing did. Hopefully, she’ll find another musical or two that she can also be part of. Maybe a role in Mamma Mia 3 or a Disney animated musical, like Frozen 3, will pop up.
As the dust on Snow White‘s release settles, hopefully it won’t be long before some announcements about Rachel Zegler’s future come. She’s got the talent to be a major star. It’s just up to her and Hollywood to find the projects that can make that possible and make disappointments like this Disney live-action remake a thing of the past.
