30 Rock stars Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan are reuniting for a new NBC comedy series. Fey created the popular series and played the role of Liz Lemon while Morgan played Tracy Jordan. The ensemble cast also included Jane Krakowski and Alec Baldwin, while Jason Sudeikis and James Marsden played recurring characters. After a successful run on NBC from 2006-2013, 30 Rock ended with season 7, with the decision being a creative one instead of being due to cancelation.
As per TVLine, Morgan is now starring in an NBC comedy pilot created by Fey. Morgan’s character is described as “a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image” in the currently untitled single-camera comedy. Fey and Morgan will be executive producers alongside 30 Rock‘s Robert Carlock and Sam Means, who co-wrote the upcoming pilot episode. Carlock and Fey were co-showrunners of 30 Rock while Means wrote two episodes, one in season 6 and the other in season 7.
What This Means For Tina Fey And Tracy Morgan’s Comedy Series
Despite Being In Early Stages, It Is Already Promising
30 Rock is one of NBC’s all-time great sitcoms and the network is seemingly looking to recapture that success with Fey and Morgan’s new comedy series. The project is still in the early stages as it is only at the point of a pilot episode and a full season has yet to be greenlit. With so many sitcom and NBC veterans in front of and behind the camera, though, it seems inevitable that the show will be picked up for a full season 1 order.

Night Court & 30 Rock Exist in the Same Universe – Theory Explained
Could Night Court’s Judge Harry T. Stone exist in the same universe as 30 Rock’s Jack Donaghy? A crossover episode seems to suggest they could.
Despite the familiar talent, the new show’s premise is noticeably distinct from 30 Rock. Instead of revolving around the world of television entertainment, it will be a comedy rooted in the world of sports as Morgan’s character works to repair the reputation he previously had during his professional football career. This approach ensures that the series will not feel like a retread of 30 Rock and that it has its own unique creative direction.
Our Take On Tina Fey And Tracy Morgan’s New Show
It Is A Major Win For NBC
It is exciting to see Fey and Morgan working together again on a new project other than 30 Rock for NBC. 30 Rock was a genuinely funny sitcom that never outstayed its welcome during its seven-season run. Fey and Morgan will hopefully be able to rekindle some of the successful elements that made their previous collaboration work so well while carving out a path for their newest venture. This 30 Rock reunion is a win for network television and is poised to have widespread appeal.
