A star of The Monkey has just joined the cast of Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, a new show from director David Gordon Green. Green is best known for directing the Halloween reboot trilogy, which culminated with Halloween Ends in 2022, but he has also directed comedies like Pineapple Express (2008) and Your Highness (2011). More recently, he directed the poorly-reviewed The Exorcist: Believer (2023) and Nutcrackers (2024).
Variety now reports that Tatiana Maslany will star in the upcoming comedic thriller series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, which will feature Green directing for Apple TV+. The show hails from creator David J. Rosen (Sugar, Citadel) and is said to follow a newly-divorced mother who “falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder and youth soccer.” The series will consist of 10 episodes that are half an hour in length.
Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon developed the show and will executive produce for Genre Films, as with Bard Dorros also for Anonymous Content. Green will also executive produce the show. It’s not yet clear when Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed will start filming or release on Apple TV+.
What Maslany’s Casting Means For Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed
Green & Maslany’s Previous Work Explained
Maslany most recently featured in the cast of The Monkey, a Stephen King adaptation from Longlegs (2024) director Osgood Perkins. The film was met with positive reviews and has been a success at the box office since its release on February 21. Maslany will also be known to many viewers for her starring roles in shows like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Orphan Black. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed will actually mark a reunion for Green and Maslany, who previously worked together on 2017’s Stronger starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

It’s not yet clear who else will star in Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed alongside Maslany, but the actor is evidently no stranger to the comedy genre. The She-Hulk Disney+ series was one of the first purely comedic MCU offerings, though it did ultimately prove divisive with audiences, and she also appeared in two episodes of Parks and Recreation. Green, too, though he is now known for horror, has plenty of comedy as part of his filmography, including in the TV medium with shows like The Righteous Gemstones and Eastbound & Down.
Our Take On Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed
The Apple TV+ Show Could Break A Green Trend
When it comes to feature films, Green hasn’t had much luck recently. Nutcrackers reviews were mixed from critics, and The Exorcist: Believer crashed so hard at the box office that the planned trilogy it was supposed to start was scrapped. Halloween Ends also proved to be an especially divisive ending to the new Halloween trilogy, and Halloween Kills (2021) wasn’t particularly well-received either.
Green’s history in comedy TV, though, suggests Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed could be a great comeback project. The Righteous Gemstones and Eastbound & Down, after all, were both very well-received. Maslany, too, is clearly a very talented comedic and dramatic actor, and her pairing with Green on Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed could be an ingredient for success.
