Yellowjackets season 3, episode 4’s trailer shows Coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger) on trial. After surviving on his own in the wilderness, in Yellowjackets season 3, episode 3’s ending, Coach Ben is found and at the mercy of the teenage survivors. The teens believe that Coach Ben is the one responsible for burning down the cabin at the end of season 2, and they do not view him as part of their group any longer. While Natalie Scatorccio (Sophie Thatcher) is sympathetic to Coach Ben, she cannot afford to jeopardize her position as the group’s leader.
The Yellowjackets season 3, episode 3 trailer (via TV Promos), reveals that Coach Ben has been put on trial to determine if he should live or die. Misty Quigley (Samantha Hanratty) tries to help Coach Ben prove his innocence, while Shauna Shipman (Sophie Nélisse) reminds the group that he is not one of them. In the present-day timeline, the adult Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) gets trapped in a freezer where she sees visions of Jackie Taylor (Ella Purnell). Meanwhile, Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress) and Van Palmer (Lauren Ambrose) are caught in an argument. Check out the trailer below:

Coach Ben’s Trial Is His Last Hope
Yellowjackets season 3 has seen the teenage survivors clinging to a surprising amount of civility after eating two of their own last season. This continues with Coach Ben being put on trial instead of having him be immediately killed and eaten. Coach Ben’s trial is unlikely to be a fair one, but it may be his last chance to save himself, and to prove that he did not set the fire during Yellowjackets season 2’s ending. Misty being the one to defend him adds another layer of complexity to the trial given her tense history with Coach Ben.

As for the adult survivors, it remains to be seen how Shauna will end up trapped in a freezer, although it is likely related to her mysterious stalker. Purnell reprised her role as Jackie during the teens’ hallucination sequence in episode 3 and now continues to have a presence in season 3, this time in the present-day timeline. In terms of Taissa and Van, Taissa seems fixated on the idea of sacrificing others in the name of Van living longer, which Van is understandably opposed to doing. This may be a difficult issue to reconcile in their relationship.

Coach Ben’s Fate May Finally Be Revealed
Both timelines in Yellowjackets continue to be enticing, although Coach Ben’s trial may be the most intriguing part of the upcoming episode. Coach Ben’s fate has been a fascinating mystery for a while now, and the trial’s outcome may finally answer that question. The trial will also challenge Misty as she tries to defend him without ruining her own standing in the group. Natalie is not the one defending him, but she is in a somewhat similar predicament as the leader who is not out for Coach Ben’s blood. The trial may forever change the survivors’ dynamics in Yellowjackets.
