Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episode 4, “12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis.”
The Yellowjackets season 3, episode 5 trailer teases the fallout from the trial of Coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger) and the death of Lottie Matthews (Simone Kessell). After being put on trial by the teenage survivors, the verdict was that Coach Ben was guilty of burning the cabin down. Meanwhile, in the present-day timeline, Yellowjackets season 3, episode 4’s ending sees Misty Quigley (Christina Ricci) learning that Lottie has died under mysterious circumstances.
Now, Paramount+ with Showtime (via TV Promos) has released a trailer that shows Ben’s fate being decided and Misty taking charge of investigating Lottie’s death. Misty informs the other adult survivors about Lottie’s death and is seen exploring the tunnel where the body was found. Walter Tattersall (Elijah Wood) is seen peering around a corner, although his role in Misty’s investigation is currently unclear. In the past, teenage Shauna Shipman (Sophie Nélisse) suggests Coach Scott be sentenced with fire. A bag is put over his head and the trailer ends with him screaming in agony. Check out the trailer below:
What This Means For Yellowjackets
Teenage Shauna And Adult Misty Take On Leadership Roles
In Yellowjackets‘ present-day timeline, the remaining adult survivors now have a reason to be united. Since the death of Natalie Scatorccio (Juliette Lewis), they have been somewhat scattered, but finding out how and why Lottie died brings them back together. Misty seems to be making quick strides in her investigation as episode 5 will already see her finding the tunnel. This discovery may shed more light on the vision that teenage Lottie (Courtney Eaton) had during her baptism in season 1.

Yellowjackets Makes Lottie’s Most Mysterious Visions From Season 1 Extremely Tragic
Visions that Lottie Matthews had in Yellowjackets season 1 are now more tragic due to what happens to her in the present-day timeline.
As for the past, Coach Ben’s story looks like it will only get worse. If Shauna gets her wish, and Coach Ben is burned alive, this would be a truly horrific way for him to die. Whatever the teenage survivors decide to do, the bag over Coach Ben’s head and his tormented scream make it clear that his post-trial fate will be brutal to watch. During the voting, Shauna’s power over the group becomes evident, and Coach Ben is now poised to be tortured and killed as she further exerts her growing power.
Our Take On The Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 5 Trailer
Lottie’s Death Has A Silver Lining For Misty
After seeing Natalie die during Yellowjackets season 2’s ending, it is shocking to lose another adult survivor so soon. In a strange way, Lottie’s death may be a good thing for Misty, as it gives her a purpose, and a reason to be reunited with the “friends” who have been avoiding her. Nothing good can come from Coach Ben’s death, though, other than putting him out of the misery that he has been in since the plane crash. Hopefully his story will end without him being burned or eaten alive in Yellowjackets season 3.
