Earth Trailers Reveal Closer Looks At 5 Different Monsters In Hulu’s New Series

While bringing back its most iconic creature, new Alien: Earth teaser trailers reveal five new monsters are being introduced to the franchise. Developed by Legion and Fargo vet Noah Hawley, the FX on Hulu series is set two years before the original Ridley Scott movie and centers on a group of soldiers who investigate the aftermath of a spaceship crash-landing on Earth, only to come into contact with the Xenomorphs and more. Sydney Chandler is leading the Alien: Earth cast alongside Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav and Kit Young, among others.

As the wait continues for the show’s Summer 2025 premiere, and in celebration of Alien Day, FX Networks has released two new Alien: Earth teaser trailers. The first is a 42-second video offering a closer look at five new monsters being introduced in the series, while the second, entitled “Gestation Complete”, is a three-minute, 19-second video showing the growth of one of the new species aboard a Weyland-Yutani ship. What The New Teasers Mean For Alien: Earth

Hawley Might Be Tying Up Franchise Loose Ends

While the five different creatures are seen mostly through silhouettes in the Alien: Earth teaser trailers, one does look remarkably similar to the early stages of the Proto-Xenomorph from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. The 2012 prequel showed that the supposed original version of the iconic creature had multiple unique phases, including the squid-like Naiad, which grows inside its host, and its adult form of the Trilobite, which can lay an embryo in a new host and lead to the birthing of the Xenomorph-like alien seen in that movie’s ending.

Despite Scott’s prequels seemingly being done away with, Alien: Romulus did feature some connections with Prometheus and Covenant, including the return of the black goo and Weyland-Yutani’s continued experiments on it. As such, it is possible Hawley has incorporated the Naiad or Trilobite into his series. It could also go a long way to filling the 20-year narrative gap between Scott’s 2017 film and the original movies, as it would explain why the organization remains so driven to experimenting and researching the various Xenomorph forms.

How FX’s Alien TV Show Can Be Set On Earth Without Breaking Alien Canon

Alien: Earth is a hugely exciting entry in the sci-fi franchise, but its existence may cause some problems for the series’ complicated timeline.

Regardless of the narrative explanation behind the different creatures, the fact that Alien: Earth introduces five new monsters gives the show a unique edge on its movie counterparts. While Romulus did introduce the menacing Offspring hybrid creature, most Alien movies keep their focus on Xenomorphs and Facehuggers, with only one or two new creatures introduced. With the show also being the first in the franchise to be set on Earth, Hawley is drastically raising the stakes for the characters at the heart of its story.

Our Take On Alien: Earth’s Five New Monsters

They Could Open The Door For Future Stories

Timothy Olyphant in Alien: Earth

Through the show’s development and production, Hawley has teased his interest in future Alien: Earth seasons, and the introduction of five new monsters in the show could very well be a natural way to keep it going. Though Hawley is generally driven by character more than concept, it would be interesting to see him treat the creatures as characters rather than monsters, and therefore envision future seasons as following new humans dealing with each monster.
