Elsbeth season 2 finale trailer shows the offbeat lawyer incarcerated with several of the suspects she has helped put away. The penultimate episode of Elsbeth season 2 saw Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) arrested after harassing a witness during an interrogation. She was promptly sent to prison by a bitter judge who was a close friend of her deceased nemesis, Judge Milton Crawford. And the upcoming finale episode will see the titular heroine spending some time behind bars, and she could be in for a not-so-warm welcome.
Per the TV Promos YouTube channel, the finale trailer shows the titular attorney behind bars with some of the criminals she helped put away, a selection of whom perform a musical number to “welcome” her. Among the criminals shown in the trailer include Margo Clarke, Freya Frostad, Vanessa Holmes, Quinn Powers, and Alyssa Milano’s Pupetta Del Ponte. Elsewhere, the trailer shows Wendell Pierce’s Captain Charles Wallace Wagner urging an unseen character, “she should not be behind bars.” Check out the trailer below:
What This Means For Elsbeth Season 3
The Wacky Lawyer Could Be In For A Tough Time
While the direction Elsbeth season 3 is set to take is unclear yet, CBS renewing the show means the writing team can plan for the third installment, and Elsbeth’s incarceration is likely to play a big part in this. How long she remains behind bars is unknown, but the experience is bound to have a formative impact on her as a character. According to the finale’s description, Elsbeth is trapped in prison with nine murderers she helped put away, and, when one of them is stabbed to death, she must set out to find the killer’s killer.
Events from the finale will impact much of what happens in season 3, so there are bound to be more than a few shocks and twists.
There is a good bet that Elsbeth will come into conflict with many of the inmates, but her investigation into the death could help her to rebuild some bridges and earn the respect (and possible forgiveness) of at least a couple of the criminals. Elsbeth’s team will be fighting on the outside to get her released, which could mean her time in prison is limited to just the finale episode. However, it seems likely that events from the finale will impact much of what happens in season 3, so there are bound to be more than a few shocks and twists.
Our Take On Elsbeth’s Prison Story Arc
The Show Has A Chance To Tread Unfamiliar Ground
Elsbeth is rich with interesting characters, and none more so than the lawyer herself. Elsbeth’s prison story arc allows the show to tread unfamiliar ground and isolate Elsbeth from her allies, putting her into conflict with multiple characters. The show’s fish-out-of-water story has been one of its strongest elements, and, with the protagonist now in prison, this presents the perfect opportunity for Elsbeth to explore this dynamic in a new and interesting way.
