Evil may have come to an end, but its cast is still holding out hope for a potential revival. The show starred Katja Herbers as Dr. Kristen Bouchard, Mike Colter as David Acosta, and Aasif Mandvi as Ben Shakir, and it featured the trio investigating purported supernatural threats. The team faced off against demons, cults, and even the Antichrist. After an early cancelation by Paramount+, creators Robert and Michelle King compressed multiple storylines into an extended final season, and the show ended in August 2024.
In an interview with ScreenRant at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Herbers and Colter shared their own reactions to the show’s ending. Colter is “still thinking about Rome” and hopes to see a return to the Vatican. Herbers, meanwhile, believed that there was potential for a revival “if we win” at the awards. Check out their quotes below:
ScreenRant: I’m very sad about Evil coming to an end. How did we feel about the finale? Where are our hearts and minds?
Mike Colter: In Rome. We’re still thinking about Rome, wondering when we’ll be [there again], around the Vatican…
Katja Herbers: We’re hoping that there’s a season 5. Let’s see. If we win tonight, maybe it’ll be in Rome. Maybe we’ll shoot the whole thing in Italy, in Rome.
Mike Colter: I’ve got my eye on an Airbnb. I’ve been looking at it, actually.
Plans are being made.

What The Cast’s Response Means For Evil’s Future
It Has Already Suffered A Major Blow
If Herbers believed that the Critics’ Choice Awards offered an opportunity for Evil, then it just missed another return opportunity. Rather than taking home the awards for Best Drama Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, it lost both categories to FX’s Shōgun. Herbers’ dreams might have died there, but there are still potential ways for the show to return. After all, Evil‘s early cancelation has often been compared to Warrior Nun‘s ending. For the Netflix show, a widespread fan campaign helped to bring it back from the dead, and the same is possible here.
Despite first running as a TV show, Warrior Nun will conclude with a movie trilogy.
Similarly, The Mindy Project, Designated Survivor, and Arrested Development all managed to find new homes on different platforms after cancelation. If a show can maintain its following through its ending, there is always a possibility that it can be brought back to life. Evil creator Robert King previously said to ScreenRant that the new wave of viewers came “a little too late to save the show“. He was not willing to let the show go, however, as he left an opening for a later revival, explaining that he would “never say never“.
Our Take On Evil’s Potential Return
It Has Potential With Such A Loyal Fanbase
While the reaction to the show’s cancelation is not unprecedented, the widespread outcry is an excellent sign. If a streaming platform sees excellent numbers for the final season, alongside a continued campaign from loyal viewers, that cult following could translate into a revival. It is not definitive proof that a revival is on the way, but it is still enough to generate hope. If Mike Colter and Katja Herbers still believe in Evil, then there is always still potential for another season.
