Fallout Season 2’s Bolder Quality Compared To “Extraordinary” Season 1 Teased By Star

Fallout season 2 will have a bolder quality to it than the “phenomenal” season 1, according to star Walton Goggins. Based on the hit post-apocalyptic role-playing video game franchise of the same name, Fallout premiered on Prime Video in April 2024, to strong ratings and positive critical reviews. Fallout features a strong cast, including Goggins, Ella Purnell, Kyle MacLachlan, and Aaron Moten, and is produced by Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Fallout season 1 was praised for its performances, writing, production design, and faithfulness to the source material, and hopes are high for season 2.

In a red carpet interview posted via Deadline‘s X account, Goggins, who plays the role of gunslinger and bounty hunter The Ghoul, has given his glowing appraisal of season 2 of the show. The Django Unchained star revealed that he is very happy with the quality of season 2, and offered his belief that he thinks it will surpass season 1 in terms of quality. Praising the writers and creative minds behind the series, Goggins stated that he can’t wait for audiences to see the season. Check out the 53-year-old’s comments below:

“I thought season 1 was extraordinary. Personally, I was very pleased with it. This blows it out of the water, what these writers have done, and the artisans that have come together to tell this story. It’s really gonna be something. I can’t wait for people to see it.”

The Epic Scope Of The Show Could Be Increased Even More In The Upcoming Season

Goggins’ comments make for an interesting and exciting tease for Fallout season 2, and it will be intriguing to see the direction the show chooses to take. Season 1 did a great job of depicting a lawless, post-apocalyptic wasteland with real stakes and a rich tapestry of interesting characters to carry the narrative forward, and there are plenty of approaches the show could take for season 2. It is unclear whether Goggins’ comments refer to the storyline, visuals, shocking moments, or action sequences, or he could be referring to all of them.

Everything needs to be bigger and more ambitious, whie still being tonally consistent, and capturing the essence of what made season 1 so good.

The writers could farm inspiration from other games in the series, and explore plot and story points for Fallout season 2, such as The Commonwealth, The Institute, and Super Mutants, and there’s a good chance some of these could at least be touched on in season 2. The story and visual dynamics for season 2 could be bigger, larger, more epic, and more engaging, and these are all exciting elements that could continue from the show’s successful debut season.

Our Take On Fallout Season 2

The Show Will Have A Tough Job Matching Its Season 1, But Signs Are Encouraging

A successful season 1 has put Fallout in a strong position, but a sophmore season of any TV show can prove to be a challenge. Everything needs to be bigger and more ambitious, while still being tonally consistent, and capturing the essence of what made season 1 so good. Goggins seems confident about the chances of season 2 surpassing its predecessor, and if some of the key events from the games can be incorporated into the story, along with strong performances and stunning production design, there’s every chance his claim could be validated when Fallout season 2 drops.
