Grey’s Anatomy Season 21, Episode 17 Reveals The First Look At Levi’s Return

A new trailer for Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 17 reveals the first look at Levi’s return as Jo and Link’s wedding day finally arrives. Levi (Jake Borelli) was last seen in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 7, where he asked his boyfriend, James (Michael Thomas Grant), to move to Texas with him. This ended up becoming the last time the general surgeon and pediatric fellow was seen on the show, having left Grey Sloan Memorial for new opportunities. It emphasized a new beginning for his character, but one the audience wasn’t going to see play out.

Now, ABC (via TV Promos) has released a new trailer for Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 17, offering a glimpse at Levi’s return after his departure earlier in the season. There’s a very brief glimpse of Levi smiling in the new trailer, which has a larger focus on a patient being treated, alongside Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Link (Chris Carmack) finally getting married. Check out the new trailer below:

What Grey’s Anatomy Season 21, Episode 17 Trailer Means For The Show

Levi’s Return Can Offer An Update On His Life

Levi’s return is nothing new for the medical drama, with characters in Grey’s Anatomy consistently coming back, even long after they’ve departed from the series. While Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) still makes appearances despite no longer being a series regular, other season 21 returnees have included Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and Tom Koracick (Greg Germann), both last seen in season 19. The series never shies away from bringing its former stars back for major roles, making this current approach to the medical professional’s return unsurprising.

The episode is also the penultimate for the season, meaning some major events are likely to happen as everyone juggles their lives with their work. It’s unclear if Levi will factor into the event, other than potentially coming back to see the pair get married.
