How Elias’ Ghosts Season 4 Return Will Haunt The Characters Teased By Isaac Star

This article contains spoilers for Ghosts season 4, episode 14, “Alexander Hamilton and the Ruffle Kerfuffle.”Ghosts star Brandon Scott Jones teases how Elias’ return will impact the rest of the season. Ghosts season 4, episode 14, “Alexander Hamilton and the Ruffle Kerfuffle”, largely focuses on the past of Isaac (Jones) and reveals that his feud with Alexander Hamilton (Nat Faxon) was not as one-sided as it initially appeared to be. But the episode does feature a secondary plot, with the villainous Elias (Matt Walsh) returning and seeking a soul to take down to Hell with him.

In an interview with Collider, Jones is asked whether Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) learns Isaac’s message about not getting caught up in a petty rivalry. Jones replies that the message will come back in a big way by the season’s end, even if it appears that Isaac’s return is forgotten at first:

“I think you’re absolutely right. I think it does come back in a big way. I think even if it feels like we get away from it for a little bit, trust that it is a seed that has been planted and watered. It’s definitely going to come back and, no pun intended, haunt us like that.”

Jones also spoke about the finale in the same interview, revealing that Patience (Mary Holland) returns in the upcoming Ghosts season 4 finale to cause some havoc and adds: “Maybe a seed that was planted in today’s episode comes back to, again, haunt us”:

“I’m gonna I’m going to give it to you. We will see Patience again. I think it’s in the finale, but I know that she comes in and she wreaks havoc right towards the end of the season. I will say that maybe a seed that was planted in today’s episode comes back to, again, haunt us. So, it is a jam-packed season finale we are marching towards. It’s going to be tough, but a lot of things convalesce. It’s wild. It’ll be something.”

What Elias’ Return Means For Ghosts Season 4

Jay Could Be In Trouble

Through Samantha (Rose McIver), Isaac tells Jay a story about how his petty rivalry with Hamilton got in the way of vastly more important things. As this was happening, however, Elias was trying to acquire the souls of some ghosts. It wouldn’t be all bad for the spirits. If they agreed, they’d get to oversee the torture of others. The ghosts, led by Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) reject this offer, though Trevor (Asher Grodmann) and Thor (Devan Chandler Long) are tempted to accept the offer for different reasons.

Elias is undeterred. He promises that he will get a soul when it’s all said and done. Prior to the end credits, he’s seen sitting down with Jay at a cafe. While posing as a human, it looks like Elias has offered to be Jay’s publicist and help with his restaurant. Jay says he needs some time to think on it, not realizing he’s selling his soul to a demon. This cliffhanger of sorts would confirm that Elias will be back to get what he wants before Ghosts season 5. The question then becomes who will give his soul, willingly or otherwise.

Our Take On Elias’ Impact On Ghosts

Patience Could Save The Day

It’s an early prediction, but it could be the case that Patience will get a redemption arc by volunteering to join Elias in Hell. She has been depicted as a stickler for rules and delivering punishment when needed, so it would be a relatively happy ending for the Ghosts characters.
