King Of The Hill Revival Gets Hulu Release Window

The long-awaited King of the Hill revival finally gets a release window on Hulu. The original animated series, which ran from 1997 to 2010, focusing on the titular Hill family as they live in Arlen, Texas, was picked up for a revival at Hulu well over two years ago. Although it has been confirmed that several cast members will be back for the revival, the King of the Hill revival has faced some delays due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes that happened mere months after it was picked up and continued for most of 2023.

Deadline confirms that the King of the Hill revival will be released this summer on Hulu. The news was revealed as part of the announcement that the cast and crew of the fan-favorite animated show will reunite at the ATX TV Festival in May, including co-creators and executive producers Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, executive producer and showrunner Saladin K. Patterson, in addition to actors Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss. Their panel will include a discussion about the original series, as well as a sneak peek of the revival.

What To Know About The King Of The Hill Revival

There Will Be A Time-Jump

Several crucial King of the Hill actors, including co-creator Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Stephen Root, Adlon, and Tom, are all set to reprise their roles. There will also be continuity behind the scenes, as Judge and Daniels are executive producing the project. The revival will feature a time-jump, as a since-deleted Instagram post revealed that an adult Bobby was wearing a chef’s uniform.

ATX TV Festival Season will take place May 29 to June 1 in Austin, Texas.

Johnny Hardwick, who voiced Hank Hill’s friend Dale Gribble, in addition to being a writer-producer behind the scenes, will have a presence. The actor and creative force recorded a few episodes before his death in August 2023. Hardwick’s character, Dale, was the friend of Hank Hill during the show’s original run. Now that the show is finally close to coming back, there will be more information about what the revival will actually look like.

Our Take On The King Of The Hill Revival

It May Just Work Well

The Futurama revival has been a relatively quiet hit for Hulu, consistently having the rare distinction of appearing on Nielsen’s Top 10 charts. That is a victory for a streaming service that doesn’t have reliable hits on the level of Netflix or big breakouts like Prime Video. Hulu does have a growing list of reliable originals, from Only Murders in the Building to the thriller Paradise. If all goes well, King of the Hill‘s revival could join that roster.
