Maggie & OA’s Non-Romantic FBI Storyline Gives Them “Longevity” Says Star Zeeko Zaki

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for FBI season 7, episode 14!Maggie and OA’s non-romantic relationship in FBI has been addressed by star Zeeko Zaki, who explained how it gives the pair “longevity.” During FBI season 7, episode 14, OA (Zaki) and his girlfriend, Gemma (Comfort Clinton) were taken hostage when the train they were taking to Niagara Falls was rerouted by a group of hijackers. Throughout the episode, Maggie (Missy Peregrym) was worried about her partner’s safety, with the team eventually saving the pair. However, Gemma is shot, and is forced to rest at the hospital, causing OA to feel inadequate at protecting her.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Zaki was asked about the potential for a budding romance between Maggie and OA, given how worried she was for his safety in FBI season 7, episode 14. The actor explained how he believed their platonic relationship aired in their “longevity” as partners. He said that, while many partnerships across television end up becoming romantic, he believes there’s something special about the core duo not going in that direction. Check out what Zaki had to say below:

I think there’s a lot of strength in the platonicness of our relationship. It’s funny because I don’t get to see her concern, you know what I mean? It’s kind of very one-sided. But again, it’s refreshing. I think a lot of partnerships on TV sort of fall into that romantic slot at some point and maybe there’s something to us not falling into that that kind of gives us a longevity together, which I’m hoping lasts forever.

What Zaki’s Statement Means For A Possible Maggie & OA Romance

It Doesn’t Sound Like It’s On The Table Right Now

Maggie and OA have been the core characters in FBI since the show began, having been the lead Special Agents on the team since season 1. The pair have been through a multitude of life-threatening cases with each other, saving one another’s lives on more than one occasion. Maggie’s worry about her partner’s safety in season 7, episode 14 is made understandable in this context, since the pair have been through so much together over the last several years. Him being there with Gemma may have also concerned her, given he’d do anything to protect her.

FBI Season 7 Episode 14 Interview: Star Zeeko Zaki “Loves The Speculation” Surrounding OA & Maggie

ScreenRant interviews star Zeeko Zaki about the events of FBI season 7, episode 14, and the major drama ahead for OA and Maggie.

As for OA, his romantic dedication is clearly only for Gemma, given how guilty he feels about her getting shot while he was trying to save her life. It’s something the rest of season 7 will likely focus on as he grapples with the impact this could have on their relationship. But, even if FBI season 8 sees him single again, Zaki’s statement illustrates how well the core duo work together by not having romance bloom between them. A major change like that could be too big a change for them, both personally and professionally.

Our Take On Maggie & OA Staying As Friends

It Makes Sense Given Their History Together

While the chemistry between Maggie and OA is ripe for possible romantic exploration, the two have worked as a platonic team for so long that it makes sense for them to stay that way. Even though they worry about each other when they’re in dangerous situations, Zaki’s sentiment makes it clear how that doesn’t mean there’s something more going on between them. Although FBI could surprise with a turn for their characters, for now, it makes sense they stay within the bounds of the friendship they currently have.
