Mayfair Witches Showrunner Teases Rowan’s Season 2 Journey With Lasher: “Embracing Her Witchy Identity”

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Mayfair Witches season 2, episode 1!Mayfair Witches showrunner Esta Spalding has teased Rowan’s season 2 journey with Lasher, explaining what to expect as her powers continue to grow. At the end of Mayfair Witches season 1, Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) gave birth to a baby version of Lasher (Jack Huston), granting him the physical body he’d been trying to attain all season. With the season 2 premiere, her child very quickly grows back into his adult body within the span of a week, albeit without his memories. Rowan’s powers are also enhanced because of her maternal link with him.

Speaking with TVLine, Spalding explained how Rowan’s journey in Mayfair Witches season 2 will see her trying to protect her family from the evil still lurking within Lasher, while also relying on him for her powers. The showrunner teased the protagonist’s “witchy identity” in the upcoming episodes, with her not only using her newfound abilities to heal people. Check out what Spalding had to say about the new season below:

There’s something she tangibly has to try to protect the family from, but she also has a vested interest in making sure she stays connected to Lasher because of that power. It’s going to be an interesting season, one that’s much more about the family and Rowan’s leadership of the family.

Rowan is embracing her witchy identity this season. She’s really entranced with her powers, but she still has that good doctor mentality at the start of the season, where she thinks she wants to use her powers for is healing and doctoring. She’s discovering the seductiveness of just simply having power.

What Spalding’s Statement Says About Rowan’s Character Arc In Mayfair Witches Season 2

She’ll Have Plenty Of Challenges In Her Path

Mayfair Witches season 2 emphasizes how Rowan’s past will be shaping her future, with raising Lasher and turning Cortland (Harry Hamlin) to stone likely to be further explored as the show progresses. So too will the Talamasca side of the story, as Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa) has been tasked with recruiting Moira Mayfair (Alyssa Jirrels) to keep tabs on the main character. This means she’ll have plenty to contend with as she tries to understand her son’s powers, and how she can control her own thanks to his rebirth.

Right now, however, her primary concern is covering up for Lasher’s accidental murder of a young woman, who he discovers at the end of the episode is a Mayfair cousin named Lucy. If his responsibility in her killing is realized, the cast of Mayfair Witches could begin hunting him down. This might jeopardize Rowan’s plans to use her enhanced powers to heal people, since she won’t have the same level of strength or control she does when he’s around. But, with Spalding confirming the importance of her season 2 powers, she might stand a chance against all opposition.
