New Bridgerton Season 4 Image Reveals Unexpected Meeting Between Sophie & Benedict’s Family, & This Is A Huge Book Deviation

A new preview image from Bridgerton season 4 teases a potential new television-original expansion of Benedict and Sophie’s romance as their siblings come together for a never-before-seen moment. The hit Netflix romantic period drama adapted from Julia Quinn’s novel series follows the exploits of the titular family and their blossoming relationships. In Bridgerton season 4, Luke Thompson’s Benedict finally takes center-stage, as he encounters Yerin Ha’s mysterious Sophie Baek as the season sets out to adapt the events of An Offer From A Gentleman.

Netflix has shared a new Bridgerton season 4 image that teases a surprising television series original moment. In the image below, Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie) host a visit from the season’s new household, as Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (Isabella Wei) join the two Bridgerton siblings in the living room. As the novel focuses on the perspectives of Benedict and Sophie, this sequence is an expansion of the roles of the novel’s supporting cast. In addition, Netflix also shared a new image of Eloise and Penelope strolling around a London town. Check them out below:

What This New Scene Means For Bridgerton Season 4

Past Seasons Have Helped Prepare Future Protagonists For New Stories

While the meeting between the Bridgerton and Li siblings is a new surprise addition to the Bridgerton television series, it is not unusual for the series to provide new scenes and stories for characters who weren’t the focus of the source novel. Benedict himself received an expanded arc throughout the first three seasons, where he explored how love can endure in many forms. This expansion has helped establish the romance he is set to embark on with Sophie, which challenges societal standards in class and social positions.

Of All The Changes Bridgerton Has Made To The Books, These 8 Are The Best Ones

Netflix’s Bridgerton has made many changes to Julia Quinn’s books, both good and book. There are eight changes that stand out from the rest.

As such, not only will additional scenes featuring Rosamund and Posy help flesh out the newcomers beyond simply being foils to Sophie, but also help develop Eloise and Hyacinth ahead of leading their own seasons. While Eloise has been developed throughout past seasons and played major parts in Penelope’s (Nicola Coughlan) story, Hyacinth has largely had a background role throughout her past appearances. As such, new scenes can help establish both Bridgerton characters. Unfortunately, it’s unclear what may have set this meeting between the Bridgertons and Lis, given that Sophie is not close to her stepfamily.

Season 4’s New Scenes Are Essential To The Series’ Future

With Bridgerton season 4 finally allowing Benedict to take the lead, many viewers may have been left wondering which sibling would be next once his tale had been told. While Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) final scenes in season 3 and the introduction of Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza) seemingly set up an upcoming adaptation of When He Was Wicked, it is clear by Eloise and Hyacinth’s greater roles that the series is developing both characters before they become the focus. As such, many may wonder just how a meeting between both pairs of sisters will shape both the Bridgerton and Li households.
