As the wait nears a close for its next chapter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians has officially been renewed for season 3 at Disney+. The serialized adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling novels tells the tale of the titular demigod as he is roped into the modern-day world of Greek mythology. Percy Jackson season 1 ended with the young hero successfully returning Zeus’ master bolt to Mount Olympus, though also found himself as an enemy of the franchise’s overarching villain, Kronos, and rogue half-blood Luke.
Per Disney Branded Television and 20th Television, Percy Jackson and the Olympians will officially be back for season 3, and will adapt the events of The Titan’s Curse, the third book in Riordan’s core pentalogy. Disney also confirmed that Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in December.
In addition to the renewal news, Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis shared a statement celebrating Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3’s renewal, acknowledging the show “had struck a chord with fans” in its debut season, and celebrating the “depth and imagination” that the cast and producers have been able to translate from Riordan’s source material. Check out Davis’ statement below:
From the moment Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages. With season 2 set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination.
Riordan also provided a statement regarding Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ season 3 renewal, expressing his gratitude for getting to continue the show, while also acknowledging it “will be new territory for the screen” as it marks the first adaptation of The Titan’s Curse and will bring many fan-favorite characters to the screen. Check out Riordan’s full statement below:
We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!
What Percy Jackson & The Olympians’ Season 3 Renewal Means
Disney+ Has Rarely Greenlit Future Seasons Prior To Premieres
Since launching in Fall 2019, Disney+ has been a premier destination for franchise-based serialized content, hosting expansion projects set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the greater Star Wars galaxy. Most of those shows, like the Emmy Award-winning WandaVision and the Saturn Award-winning Obi-Wan Kenobi, existed as limited series, while Daredevil: Born Again and Andor were anticipated as multi-season endeavors from their inceptions.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians now exists in a rare territory, where it is receiving a renewal long before its next batch of episodes arrives on the streaming service. This move speaks to the project’s success, which accumulated three billion streaming minutes in 2024, making it Disney+’s most-watched show of the year. Percy Jackson‘s accolades continued into the awards circuit, garnering 16 nominations at the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, which takes place on March 15.

10 Best Percy Jackson Book Characters That Aren’t In The Disney+ Show Yet
Characters from the rest of Percy Jackson and Rick Riordan’s other book series have yet to appear in the TV show and make the story even better.
Up to this point, only a small roster of Disney+ shows have found themselves renewed ahead of their premieres, or subsequent season premieres. In addition to the recently premiered Daredevil: Born Again, the animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man show was renewed for season 2, while also having been confirmed for season 3 very shortly after its premiere. Given Percy Jackson is a live-action series not part of one of their ongoing cinematic universes, and thus requires more resources to produce, Disney+’s confidence in renewing the show further is another indication of its success.
The confirmed Percy Jackson season 3 now also puts the franchise into uncharted territory, as Riordan’s The Titan’s Curse has yet to exist in a medium beyond the page. The third book in the series continues Percy’s adventures at Camp Half-Blood and beyond while simultaneously expanding the ensemble, adding such fan-favorites as Nico di Angelo, Bianca di Angelo, Atlas, the Hunters of Artemis, Apollo, Zoe Nightshade, and more into the mix.
Our Take On Percy Jackson’s Season 3 Renewal
Don’t Expect To Wait Another Two Years For More Demigods And Monsters
Beyond Disney+’s confidence in the Percy Jackson franchise, the biggest takeaway from this renewal comes in the production realm. Disney+ previously greenlit season 2 in February 2024, leading it to then go into production that June. If the renewal-to-filming pipeline follows that same trajectory, cameras on Percy Jackson season 3 could begin rolling before the end of this year.

Percy Jackson And The Olympians Season 2: Confirmation, Cast, Story & Everything We Know
Disney+’s take on Percy Jackson and The Olympians already thrilled during its first season, and now it has been renewed for season 2.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians has had a fairly strong production-to-premiere timeline, too, with both seasons 1 and 2 wrapping in February and subsequently premiering on Disney+ in December 2023 and 2025, respectively. Having the jumpstart on season 3 at this present day would put it in the position to stream in 2026, pushing it closer to an annual release, which would then set the stage for The Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian to follow suit.
