Resident Alien season 4 has gotten a major filming update from series star Alan Tudyk with a behind-the-scenes photo teasing the new episodes’ progress. Resident Alien season 4 will see some major changes for the series, with the show moving from Syfy to USA Network following its renewal. The series will continue to tell the story of an alien operating under the guise of medical examiner Harry Vanderspeigle (Tudyk), and all the events that have spun out ever since. Filming for season 3 began in early December 2024.
Now, Tudyk has taken to Instagram to confirm that Resident Alien season 4 has finished filming. In a post where he is dressed in a prosthetic mask for Harry’s true, alien form, the actor confirmed it was his “last day” on set for the show, verifying it has wrapped filming after nearly four months of shooting. Resident Alien season 3 ended with Harry and Bridget (Andrea Geones) imprisoned on the Greys’ base on the Moon, after the former was tricked into trading places with the Mantid (Clancy Brown). This cliffhanger ending happens just as Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) gets proof of the aliens that have been inhabiting his town, while D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) saves the Hawthorne’s baby from the Greys. These events help set the stage for a much bigger season 4, dealing with new threats and experiences for its characters.

Resident Alien’s worldbuilding has been brilliant so far, but I can’t help feeling that showrunner Chris Sheridan is holding back on one element.
It’s unclear what Tudyk’s filming update means for season 4’s development progress from here, as the show still needs to go through post-production before the show is complete. Season 3 finished filming in May 2023 but didn’t get released until February 2024, something that was partially impacted by the 2023 Hollywood strikes. This means it’s possible the show could come out in late 2025 at the earliest or early 2026 at the latest, laying the groundwork for the characters in Resident Alien to continue their stories.
