Now, Netflix has announced the official renewal of Running Point for season 2.
The streamer announced this in the form of a promotional video, which began by showing fans’ demands for a second season. What This Means For Running Point
Running Point Season 1 Is Doing Well With Viewers
It has only been one week to date since Running Point first premiered on Netflix. Earlier this week, despite only having been on the platform for half of the data collection period, the show made it onto Netflix’s global top 10 for English-language TV shows. It reached the no. 3 spot, with 9.3 million total views, and lost out only to Zero Day and American Murder: Gabby Petito. Since then, Running Point has risen to the no. 1 show in the United States and several other regions today, March 6.
Part of Running Point‘s success is likely related to its stars. The series featured Hudson in the lead, but Song’s supporting role is just as significant, as it likely drew in fans from the actor’s previous work on Disney Channel content such as The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. These cast appearances and its clever plotting and comedy amounted to positive reception overall, as Running Point got a 77% Tomatometer and 82% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. These strong reviews bode well for the next season.
