Star Wars Actor Hints A Fan Favorite Rogue Sith Is Soon To Return

Star Wars voice actor Brian Tee has hinted his mysterious Sith Lord, the Ronin, may well return soon. Star Wars canon has introduced a staggering 36 Sith Lords, but one of the most intriguing and exciting isn’t even canon. Introduced in the Star Wars: Visions season 1 episode “The Duel,” the Ronin is a rogue Sith who’s made a profession of hunting down those who serve the dark side.

Speaking to Collider on the red carpet of the Independent Spirit Awards, Visions voice actor Brian Tee hinted the Ronin may soon return. Asked whether he’d come back, he gave an exciting answer:

“Oh, absolutely no question. And I think, you know, I don’t want to give any spoilers, but we are definitely in the works right now, [I’m] probably doing something in the near and distant future, and I’ll probably stop there before I go any further.”

This is likely a hint that the Ronin will return in Star Wars: Visions season 3, which features the return of Kamikaze Douga – the animation house behind “The Duel.”

The Ronin Has Become One Of Star Wars’ Most Iconic Characters

Star Wars: Visions is proof that canonicity isn’t the same thing as quality. I consider it to easily be the best Star Wars TV show to date, simply because it allows creatives to relax and flex the muscles of their imaginations. It helps that the various animation houses have given us some absolutely unforgettable shorts; “The Duel” was a perfect example. The Ronin was popular enough that the story has been adapted into both comic book and novel form.

We know there are some sequels in Star Wars: Visions season 3, and most had assumed Kamikaze Douga’s return meant we’d be seeing more of the Ronin. That means Tee’s comment isn’t much of a surprise. We don’t have a release date for Visions season 3 just yet, but most are expecting it to come out on Star Wars Day.

Our Take On The Ronin’s Return

A ronin with a red lightsaber in Star Wars: Visions.

I’m a huge fan of Star Wars: Visions, which means I couldn’t be much more excited about the Ronin’s return. It’s interesting to note, though, that the continuation of stories like these subtly changes the nature of the show; we’re gradually building up an ongoing narrative that may or may not be folded into the main timeline. I remember speaking to the creators of season 2, and I was amused to realize they’d deliberately crafted stories that could fit into the Star Wars timeline. Perhaps the same will happen to the Ronin in the end.
