Ellie Had Been Keeping A Big Secret

In both the game and the show, the fact that Ellie is immune to the Cordyceps virus is kept secret from Dina for a while. As is seen in season 2, Ellie has gotten a tattoo to cover up her bite scars, and masks any future bites by creating other scars on top of them. In the game, Dina finds out about Ellie’s immunity when the latter’s mask breaks during the infected subway attack sequence, because it indicates that Ellie is not impacted by airborne spores that the game has established can affect humans.
