This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

The Office spinoff has officially revealed its release window alongside a title and a first look. The show will be an offshoot of the beloved NBC show The Office, which first premiered in 2005. This series was based on a British series of the same name, and has since gone through various iterations in multiple countries, including a relatively recent Australian version. Since then, another Office spinoff was announced, with Domhnall Gleeson in the main role. Sabrina Impacciatore was also later announced to be part of the cast. The series would be released on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service.

In a presentation to advertisers in New York (via Variety), NBC Universal has now revealed the release window for The Office spinoff. The show will be called The Paper, and will come out in September. The exact release date within this month has yet to be revealed. In addition to this title and release reveal, The Paper showcased its first image, which showed Gleeson, Impacciatore, and the rest of the ensemble. This included Oscar Nuñez, who returns from the the first The Office series. Check out the image below:

In addition to the image, the logline for the series was also revealed, which can be found below:

According to the release, NBCUniversal’s presentation also included a short trailer for the series. The trailer showed that the series takes place in the offices of the Toledo Truth-Teller. The trailer reveals that Oscar, a character from NBC’s The Office, is now working as an accountant for this newspaper. As the documentary crew returns to chronicle what is going on at this new workplace, Oscar does not seem terrifically pleased to see them return.

The trailer also revealed the roles of the two other main actors in the series. Impacciatore, who previously appeared in the cast of The White Lotus season 2, plays the branch’s managing editor. Gleeson is a new employee, who is described as “idealistic.” While the context behind the new image is lacking, it appears Gleeson’s character could be delivering some sort of new idea to the group. Other actors in The Paper include Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, and Ramona Young. The series is co-created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman.

Our Take On The Paper News

The Office Spinoff Has A Different Kind Of Lead

Gleeson is positioned as the lead in The Paper, and this will be an interesting departure from the original show. In the 2005 series, the lead is Steve Carell’s Michael Scott, who is the Regional Manager for the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin and, more importantly, the boss of the office. Gleeson’s role will be that of a new employee. This will create an energy to the show that is unique from the original, centering on a more optimistic lead rather than a dictatorial boss character.

More to come…
