season 2 gets a new tease from star Chris Pratt, who hypes one upcoming change for the show. Based on the Jack Carr novel series, the hit Prime Video series premiered in 2022, introducing Pratt as James Reece, a Navy SEAL on a quest to unearth a government conspiracy after his entire team is killed during a mission. The show was a hit with viewers and The Terminal List season 2 was subsequently confirmed, with filming reported to be getting underway this spring.
In a recent interview with Collider, Pratt reveals that filming on The Terminal List season 2 has now started. The actor is careful not to reveal any major story details, but he does share that some filming for the sophomore outing has taken place in Africa. As Pratt explains, this new location is part of an evolution of the show into a globe-spanning espionage story. Check out his comment below:
“I just got back from Africa. We’ve already started filming. It’s going to be un-f**king-real, dude. I’m telling you. The footage we’ve gotten already, we’ve set the bar so high for ourselves. We’re taking it out of the darkness of, like, the psychological thriller with an unreliable narrator and moving it into the world of true global spycraft.”

Aside from several relatively brief sequences, season 1 of the Prime Video series takes place almost entirely in the U.S. as Reece attempts to find and kill those responsible for the death of his team. The season adapts the events of Carr’s debut Terminal List novel, but Reece’s story expands in seven subsequent books. Following The Terminal List season 1’s ending, season 2 is set to adapt the events of Carr’s True Believer, which adds a global element to Reece’s mission.

True Believer kicks off with a terrorist bombing in London, which ends up being part of a larger plot targeting the entire Western world. Reece, who remains a wanted domestic terrorist himself, becomes the key to unraveling this conspiracy and preventing more bloodshed. Pratt’s tease seems to confirm that the globetrotting nature of True Believer will be adapted in The Terminal List season 2. Reece’s unreliable state of mind was also a crucial part of season 1, but Pratt’s comment suggests this element of the story will be dialed back in future episodes.

The Prime Video Show’s Sophomore Outing Can Fix A Season 1 Complaint
Reviews for The Terminal List weren’t overly positive from critics, with criticism aimed at the relentlessly dark and gloomy tone and certain persistent “sad soldier” tropes. Pratt’s comments about season 2 could mean that the upcoming episodes are making positive changes in this regard. With Reece’s troubled state of mind perhaps less of a focus in season 2, the show now has an opportunity to flesh out other Terminal List cast members while telling a thrilling espionage story with even higher stakes.
If there’s one thing that season 1 got right, it was the action sequences. Though some of the storytelling may have been a little shaky, the shootouts and fight sequences were thrilling, and it could be exciting to see the scale get bigger and more global in the sophomore outing. It remains to be seen how The Terminal List season 2 will fare with audiences, but Pratt is evidently feeling good about what’s to come.
