The Witcher season 5 set photos reveal Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia in an epic battle. Based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, Netflix’s fantasy series follows the magically enhanced monster hunter, Geralt, with Henry Cavill having played the titular witcher for the first three seasons. However, Liam Hemsworth has now taken over the character starting with The Witcher season 4, which is expected to be released sometime in 2025, and is being filmed back-to-back with the fifth and final season, which started shooting last month.
Now, via Redanian Intelligence, The Witcher season 5 set photos reveal Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt in an epic battle. The photos also show looks at members of Geralt’s Hansa, including Eamon Farren as Cahir, Laurence Fishburne as Emiel Regis, and Meng’er Zhang as Milva. There is one photo of Joey Batey as the beloved bard, Jaskier. See the set photos via the link below:

What The Witcher Season 5 Set Photos Mean For The Show
The First Look At Geralt In Season 5
The set photos provide the first look at Geralt in The Witcher season 5, and are one of the clearest looks yet at Hemsworth’s version of the character since the official first-look image was a close-up of his face. The latest set photos provide a clearer look at his costume, which is all-black with metal studs and knee-high boots, very similar to the costumes that Cavill wore. However, Geralt is carrying a new sword with a red and gold hilt, which is likely the sihil that Zoltan will give him either earlier in season 5 or sometime during season 4.

The Witcher Season 3 Recap & Ending Explained – What Happens Next For Ciri & Geralt?
Henry Cavill’s final The Witcher episode ends The Witcher season 3, part 2 and sets up new stories for Ciri, Yennefer, and Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt.
Though season 4 is based on the book, Baptism of Fire, it’s unclear what book season 5 will be based on, but as the final season, it should draw from the final two books, starting with The Tower of the Swallow. In the season 5 set photos, the battlefield appears to be populated with beehives and beekeepers, suggesting this is a scene from Tower of the Swallow in which Geralt and his Hansa meet beekeepers who guide them toward the druids. Since druid costumes have also been spotted on set, it’s almost certainly from that part of the story.
Our Take On The Witcher Season 5 Set Photos
Will Audiences Accept Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt?
While The Witcher has clearly made a concerted effort to make Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt look like Henry Cavill’s as much as possible, a large portion of the audience won’t be able to suspend their disbelief. The show has suffered massive blowback because of the casting change, and it’s unlikely it will be able to continue the story as usual and overcome the controversy completely. Whether The Witcher and Liam Hemsworth can render a new version of Geralt that is accepted by audiences remains to be seen.
The Witcher season 4 is expected to be released in the second half of 2025.
