Emma Myers talks about Xavier Thorpe’s absence in Wednesday season 2 and why it won’t impact the story. Portrayed by Percy Hynes White, Xavier is one of the main characters in season 1 and a student at Nevermore Academy who becomes a love interest for Wednesday. However, the actor has confirmed that he won’t be returning to the hit Netflix show following sexual assault allegations against him in 2023.
In an interview with Variety while promoting A Minecraft Movie, Myers, who plays Enid Sinclair in the show, touched on how Wednesday season 2 will address his absence. The actor shared that season 2’s plot is driven by characters involved in this season, which naturally obsoletes the ones who are not present. She also teased how the season will be packed with many exciting developments. Check out her comment below:
I feel like the script goes in a very specific direction that it’s not a big worry. This season especially is so character-driven, and there’s so much happening. It just makes so much sense to have the characters we have and to have the story we have. I think fans will appreciate it.
Wednesday Season 2 Diverges From Season 1
While both Myers and Jenna Ortega will reprise their roles in the upcoming season, the ensemble cast is one of the major changes from season 1. In addition to Xavier’s absence, Wednesday season 2’s cast introduces several new faces, including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor, along with several guest stars. Plot-wise, director and executive producer Tim Burton has promised that this season will be bigger and twistier than ever.

5 Bold Predictions For Wednesday Season 2
From Xavier’s uncertain off-screen fate to the identity of Tyler’s new Hyde master, there are a lot of bold predictions for Wednesday season 2.
Xavier’s absence also marks a shift in Wednesday’s life. Previously, Ortega explained that unlike season 1, where Wednesday found herself in a love triangle, they are ditching potential love interests for the titular character to focus on the horror elements and mysteries instead. Combined with Myers’ comment, it seems that the part-time detective and part-time crime author has no time for romance this season.
Our Take On Xavier’s Absence In Wednesday Season 2
Wednesday Will Be Focused On Solving Mysteries
Fresh off watching Wednesday season 1, Xavier’s absence in season 2 would be a disappointment, but now that some time has passed and more information about the new season has come to light, it actually sounds like a positive change for the show. The horror and mystery elements in season 1 are the highlights, while the love triangle doesn’t seem to fit Wednesday’s character at all, given that her entire focus is on solving crimes.
Myers’ comment further confirms that Wednesday season 2 is moving in an exciting direction where the show will do justice to the characters instead of placing them in tropes that don’t necessarily fit their personalities and stages in life. With Netflix having confirmed Wednesday‘s return some time in 2025, it also sounds like fans won’t have to wait a very long time to see what season 2 has in store.
