Avatar 2 Box Office: Avatar: The Way of Water opens huge, collects Rs. 41 cr on Day 1; brings on Christmas early at the box office

Christmas has come early for theatres across the country. While Drishyam 2 has kept the box office engaged for last four weeks and Cirkus is arriving next Friday, the current week has allowed huge returns for theatrical business of Avatar: The Way of Water, what with Rs. 41 crores been accumulated across all languages. Apart from the original English version, the film has released extensively in Hindi as well as south languages and the combined collections have turned out to be huge.

Avatar: The Way of Water was always expected to open quite well, ever since the first part had released back in 2009. This was one of those rare sequels where the buzz around the film was there right through the last 10-12 years and if not for the pandemic, the film would have perhaps released early on. However, director James Cameron and the studio decided to wait for the right time to bring on their 3D spectacle and the results are there to be seen, what with the film seeing a massive first day all over. In fact it will cross India lifetime collections of Avatar today itself.

Considering the fact that there has been huge advance booking for Avatar: The Way of Water today and tomorrow as well, the numbers would come out to be really good. At least today the film won’t come close to the Friday numbers, though as long as at least Rs. 30 crores come in, it would be quite good. Tomorrow, the film will grow again and if it manages to reach Friday’s numbers then the game would be on for this sci-fi fantasy action film.

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
