The much-talked about and keenly anticipated release Avatar: The Way of Water hit screens in December 2022. Directed by James Cameron the film that a sequel the previously released film Avatar came with immense hopes and expectations attached. Now after a two week run at the box office, Avatar 2 has managed to cross the Rs. 300 cr mark at the India box office.
Collecting Rs. 311.37 cr, Avatar: The Way of Water has managed to become the second Hollywood release to achieve this milestone after the 2019 release Avengers: Endgame that raked in a massive Rs. 373.22 cr. When compared, Avengers: Endgame had managed to cross the Rs. 300 cr mark in 10 days of its release drawing in Rs. 312.95 cr. On the other hand, Avatar: The Way of Water has managed to draw in Rs. 311.37 cr after a twelve day run at the box office. With this, the film not only ranks as the second Hollywood release to cross the Rs. 300 cr mark but also emerges as the second fastest Hollywood release to cross the Rs. 300 cr mark at the India box office.
Currently, Avatar: The Way of Water continues to run in theatres, drawing in the audience in droves. In fact, the film has an added advantage since the new releases have not really managed to entice the masses, leaving an open window till the next big release Pathaan. Given this free run at the box office, trade predictions state that Avatar: The Way of Water could see further growth over the coming weekdays and weekend.
