Box Office: Drishyam 2 crosses Rs. 215 crores in 4 weeks, new releases are theatrical disasters

It was yet another week dominated by Drishyam 2 as the film stayed on to be the first and practically the only major choice of the audiences. Collections were quite good over the week, especially on Saturday and Sunday when Rs. 4.67 crores and Rs. 6.16 crores came in. Post that it was about the weekdays staying reasonably stable and when Friday (Rs. 2.62 crores) to Monday (Rs. 1.61 crores) drop was in control then the stage was set for the week to close well with Thursday bringing on Rs. 1.34 crores.

So far, the film has collected Rs. 215.70 crores and it is set to go past the Rs. 225 crores mark. In fact what has to be seen is that whether it stretched enough to somehow challenge Rs. 232 crores total of Chennai Express though in all fairness that would be quite difficult since there is Avatar: The Way of Water and then Cirkus coming up.

Meanwhile, the three new releases Salaan Venky, Maarich and Vadh have all turned out to be theatrical disasters. There was no start, no momentum and no growth. As a result of that even the combined collections of these films is less than Rs. 3 crores. One now waits to see the response these films get on the OTT.

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
