Babil Khan threw his phone into the ocean when a brand called him for a shoot: ‘I was scuba diving’

Babil Khan’s recent OTT release, Logout, explores the dark reality of social media obsession and the desperate chase for digital fame. While the movie portrays him as an influencer consumed by the need to amass followers, Babil in real life is far removed from such virtual cravings. He recalled throwing his mobile phone away during a trip after receiving a call from a brand requesting a shoot.
In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Babil shared a jaw-dropping anecdote from his past. He once threw his phone into the Andaman Ocean after a call from a brand disrupted his scuba diving experience. “Somebody called me, and I was like, ‘I am scuba diving, what do you want?’ He said, ‘You’ll have to come back, you have this brand to do.’ I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll just come, give me five minutes.’ And the next thing I did was just throw my phone into the ocean. I’m not kidding. This is a true story,” he added.

He confidently shared that he is not at all worried about the consequences, as he lives on his own. “I live life on my own terms, and nobody can stop me from doing that. I live it to the fullest. I live with full emotions. I cry, I feel the hate, I respond to the hate as well,” he shared. Babil admitted that he is a shy person in real life but will never shy away from living his truth.

Babil further shared that he was once caught up in the excitement of gaining attention on social media, mistaking it for genuine affection. However, over time—and influenced by his habit of self-reflection, shaped by his upbringing—he realised that much of the online praise was superficial. He noted that the same people who once seemed supportive quickly turned indifferent, leading him to understand that the digital world often lacks authenticity.
