The Mumbai Police are reportedly exploring the possibility of an insider in the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch, which is at the actor’s residence, has been conducting their sweep of the building and CCTV footage while a forensic team also conducts their investigations. The latest reports on India Today state that the police are also investigating the possible role of an insider.
Saif Ali Khan Health Update
They arrived at this possibility after looking up 2 hours of CCTV footage which reportedly ‘does not spot an intruder’ or ‘any suspecious movement’.
According to the report, while the Khan family is stating that it was a ‘robbery bid’ the police are probing all angles, especially the mystery behind the attacker’s identity. The question remains if the man ‘knew someone who let him in’, citing that the building is a well-guarded gated society with security and CCTV cameras recording movement.
The report also claims that police have found on signs of forced entry into the house, raising suspicions about whether the man was someone known or if he had access to the home.
Saif Ali Khan was reportedly stabbed multiple times during the attack, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning. The actor sustained wounds that were later deemed ‘not life-threatening’. He underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is currently in recovery.
His wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their children, Taimur and Jeh, were unharmed, a statement confirmed.
The Bandra Police and the Mumbai Crime Branch are conducting parallel investigations, with forensics teams collecting evidence from the scene. Authorities are also examining any recent disputes or threats that could provide a motive for the attack.
The incident has shocked fans and film industry colleagues, who have taken to social media to condemn the attack and express their shock over the lapse in security. Saif’s children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan were spotted arriving at the hospital in the early hours of the morning to check up on the star.
According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan was also spotted arriving at the hospital to visit the actor in his recovery room.
