Neetu Kapoor dated Rishi Kapoor for some time before they tied the knot in 1980. Neetu has often spoken about bonding with her in-laws Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor when she got married to Neetu. She has often spoken about how close she was to her mom-in-law and had the best time when the entire family stayed together in one house in Chembur. But here’s recalling an awkward moment which Neetu went through, as she mistook Raj Kapoor as Rishi Kapoor on phone.
She had described this incident in Ritu Nanda’s book Raj Kapoor – The One and Only Showman. She had shared, “Once, when I was dating my husband, he was very drunk when he went home. I was very angry with him. I called him up and fired him on the phone. I was stunned when I heard from the other end, only one sentence, ‘Don’t you see a difference in the voice between a father and a son?’ Their voices were so similar and I was very embarrassed.”
Neetu also described another incident when she was truly touched when her father-in-law compared Neetu to her mother-in-law Krishna. She had recalled, “Once I was at a party. I knew that Papa was a big drinker but I asked him for a soft drink. He said to me, ‘Here comes my Krishna!’ We all know how important his wife was in his life. For him to compare me with her, even if he didn’t mean it, was a huge compliment! I felt very good about it.”
