Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Season 3 Renewed At AMC

AMC renews Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches for season 3. The AMC series returned with an eight-episode sophomore season earlier this year, following the journey of Rowan Mayfair (Daddario) after she gave birth to the demon Lasher (Jack Huston) while connecting Interview With the Vampire and the upcoming Talamasca in AMC’s Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe through Easter eggs and a crossover.

Per an AMC press release, Mayfair Witches has been renewed for another season. Set in Salem, Massachusetts, with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul‘s producer and writer Thomas Schnauz joining Esta Spalding as a showrunner, the new season takes a special interest in local folklore and historical events while diving even deeper into the mythology of witchcraft and introducing new “spellbound” families. Award-winning producer Mark Johnson, who oversees AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe, will serve as an executive producer.

Mayfair Witches Adds Salem Into AMC’s Immortal Universe

The creative team behind the hit supernatural series has already been working on the new season. Spalding teased that the new season will include “a contemporary twist on the Salem story,” and is the “most delicious” the series has yet to offer. Meanwhile, AMC Studios head Dan McDermott promised that while “the drama and complexities of the Mayfair family” will continue to be the series’ central focus, the new season will explore “a larger world of witchery” against the backdrop of Salem, “a historical haven of witchcraft.”

Schnauz shared that his experience working on season 3 “has been fantastic and fun,” which he hoped to translate into the audience’s experience as well when the series returns. Mayfair Witches season 3 is already in the works, and it sounds like the series is taking Mayfairs’ story in a new direction, with it being set in Salem. With the introduction of new witch families, season 3 will introduce some new faces in addition to the returning cast.

Our Take On Mayfair Witches Season 3

Mayfair Witches Season 3 Is Very Ambitious

Both Anne Rice’s novels and the Mayfair Witches show have been primarily set in New Orleans, with Mayfair Witches season 2 briefly introducing the witches in Scotland. Including Salem’s historical events is something entirely new to the series and AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe, but the supernatural take on real-life events has been a resurgent theme in recent supernatural movies and shows, including the upcoming Michael B. Jordan vampire-laced horror, Sinners, and The Black Phones‘ director’s upcoming Road of Bones.

It sounds like there are a few more book changes to the AMC Mayfair Witches series, but adding something new to the Immortal Universe sounds very fun and delicious indeed. Meanwhile, it’s also very likely that the new season’s characters might set up or feature players who will be in the other two shows.
