Cobra Kai‘s producer and co-creator Hayden Schlossberg has addressed the possibility of developing future spinoff shows with Netflix. The hit martial arts comedy-drama, itself a spinoff and quasi-revival of the Karate Kid film franchise, has thrown its final punch, as Cobra Kai season 6 part 3 dropped on Netflix. With the dust barely settled from the show’s epic conclusion, and some of the shocking revelations that accompanied it, talk has turned to the chances of continuing the legacy of the franchise via a spinoff format.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Schlossberg spoke about the possibility of potential spinoffs. While he stated that there have been no concrete developments, he was optimistic and upbeat in his response, revealing that there is a lot of work happening behind the scenes, as well as endless discussions about projects and possible spinoffs. Well, we can’t say anything official about any Cobra Kai spinoffs. All that we can say officially is that we’ve been talking about nonstop and working behind the scenes on multiple different possibilities. But we will have to wait for that official announcement. We’re hopeful that we can continue working in this universe. It’s been so fun.
What This Means For Potential Cobra Kai Spinoffs
While nothing is confirmed right now, the show’s unexpected success and epic Cobra Kai cast means that there are plenty of avenues for spinoffs in the future. It also allows for characters to be brought in and out of future shows to help tie the franchise together, and this could be an exciting time for those interested in possible Cobra Kai continuations. While Schlossberg was quick to point out that he couldn’t say anything official, he heavily implied that a spinoff could become a real possibility in the future.
A Miyagi prequel show would be a great place to start, but there could be multiple Cobra Kai spinoff shows in the future, possibly focusing on Johnny, or even on the younger cast members.
A Mr. Miyagi prequel show would be a fascinating direction for the franchise to take, particularly as his revelations played a big part in Daniel’s arc. The character’s deconstruction could fuel plenty of story content for a prequel focusing on the life of a young Miyagi. While this feels like the most obvious spinoff, there are other possibilities to explore, and with the Karate Kid: Legends movie coming out, this should generate more interest in Cobra Kai spinoffs.

Cobra Kai‘s epic, sprawling narrative has left multiple plot threads that could be revisited in the future, and assuming discussions with Netflix are promising, it feels like a spinoff is all but a certainty at this point. A Miyagi prequel show would be a great place to start, but there could be multiple Cobra Kai spinoff shows in the future, possibly focusing on Johnny, or even on the younger cast members. If Karate Kid: Legends is a success, a Cobra Kai spinoff announcement could be imminent.
