Doctor Who’s Mrs. Flood Theories Are On The Right Track As Star Confirms Season 15 Will Reveal More About Mystery Character

Doctor Who star Anita Dobson confirms that certain fans have begun to piece together the truth about Mrs. Flood ahead of her return in season 15. The character made her debut as the mysterious neighbor of Millie Gibson’s Ruby Sunday in the 2023 Christmas special “The Church on Ruby Road,” only to reveal that she held some knowledge of Time Lord secrets in the episode’s final moments. Flood will face Ruby, Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor, and Varada Sethu’s Belinda Chandra when Doctor Who returns in 2025.

Dobson revealed to RadioTimes that certain members of the audience may be close to finding the truth about Mrs. Flood. The star stated that, alongside her enjoyment of the different distinct costumes Flood dons, she has also enjoyed speaking to fans at conventions. Dobson added that several of the individuals who have shared their theories with her have been on the right track, saying:

By the end of this series that’s coming up now, you will find out who she is and what she’s about. I get to wear some really cool outfits. I’m big on clothes! I think some of the theories are really cool, because I’ve done a couple of Comic-Cons, and the fans come up and tell me what they think. Some of them have been really close to the truth.

And some of them come up with [them], you think, ‘Wow, that’s really good.’ So I hope Russell [T Davies, showrunner] is listening! I really hope to do more, because I have loved my journey with it. It’s been fantastic. I love Mrs Flood.

Flood’s Outfits Have Piqued Many Fans’ Interests

With her foreboding teases about the Doctor’s future, Doctor Who season 14 left viewers assuming that Flood is a force who will oppose the Time Lord. In her brief interactions with Cherry Sunday (Angela Wynter), she had an awareness of beings like Sutekh (Gabriel Woolfe) and spoke of ambitions to upset the flow of the universe at the level of a god. As such, many have assumed that she is perhaps a new incarnation of a past rogue Time Lord, including The Master and The Rani.
