Officially The Highest Rated Star Wars TV Show OR Movie

The Rotten Tomatoes score for Andor season 2 has been revealed, making it the highest-rated Star Wars project of all time, beating out all shows and movies. Just ahead of its premiere on April 22nd, Andor season 2’s reviews are in from critics, and the praise is quite high.

Following the series’ first season, Andor season 2 will be 12 episodes split into four 3-episode arcs, taking place during the four years before Rogue One and A New Hope. Detailing the origins and earliest days of the Rebel Alliance, the Rotten Tomatoes score for Andor season 2 is extremely high at 98%, Certified Fresh on the Tomatometer, and notably making it the highest score out of any Star Wars movie or show ever:

Andor season 2 also beats out The Empire Strikes Back, the highest-rated Star Wars movie which sits at 95%.

Andor Season 2 Really IS That Good

Pushing The Boundaries of Star Wars In Exciting Ways

As noted in ScreenRant’s own review for Andor season 2, “Andor finishes its work in doubling down on what Rogue One started, pushing Star Wars beyond its old boundaries for a potency and relevance that none of its other properties have ever achieved.” The series truly is groundbreaking, providing an in-depth look at how a revolution affects not only an entire galaxy, but also individuals. Likewise, Andor is devoid of certain elements that have been critically panned in other Star Wars shows, like gratuitous cameos.

While there is plenty of action, Andor season 2 takes the time to have moments of poignant drama and tension. While centered primarily around Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor himself, the rest of the cast gets their time to shine including Genieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma, Stellen Skarsgård’s Luthen Rael, and Adria Arjona’s Bix Caleen. Returning faces from Rogue One, like Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO, are most welcome as well, and their inclusion is incredibly organic and worthwhile, serving the overall story incredibly well.

Andor’s Legacy Will Not Be Soon Forgotten

With a score as high as 98% and beating out all other Star Wars projects, it’s more than likely that Lucasfilm will be taking some serious notes. The legacy of Andor is incredible, and it won’t be forgotten anytime soon once Andor season 2 reaches its final episode leading directly into 2016’s Rogue One. While not every Star Wars project is going to be like Andor (and shouldn’t), there’s no denying that the second and final season has set an impressive bar by which future projects will more than likely be measured.

Andor season 2 premieres April 22nd with its first three episodes on Disney+.
