The latest trailer has been released for The Recruit season 2. The action series has had a single season on Netflix so far, which introduced the story of a CIA lawyer who becomes intertwined in massive international conflicts after an asset tries to expose her relationship to to agency. The Recruit features a leading cast including Noah Centineo, Fivel Stewart, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, and Daniel Quincy Annoh. The Recruit season 1 had eight episodes and is set to release six more on January 30.
Now, Netflix has released the trailer for The Recruit.
The trailer begins with Janus Ferber issuing a warning to lead Owen Hendricks to not get caught spying. The scene then cuts to reveal the action between Owen and this season’s latest main character, played by Teo Yoo. While those back in America encourage Owen not to be the hero, the protagonist embarks on a trip across the world to take on an espionage mission head-on in South Korea. The Recruit season 2 trailer continues on with an action-packed scene set to a cover of “American Idiot.”

This trailer shows that The Recruit season 2 will really lean into its main setting. As Owen arrives in Korea, key aspects of the culture such as K-pop and barbecue are mentioned, which will likely feature in the season. These aspects of South Korean culture have become increasingly popular in the United States, and Korea has a major media industry, which will likely give the show’s sophomore season a cross-cultural appeal.

In addition to its setting, the trailer gives a further glimpse at Yoo’s new character for season 2. While Centineo has been a rising Netflix star for a number of years now, it is particularly exciting to see how much The Recruit season 2 will focus on Yoo’s character. The South Korean actor is still a fairly new face in film and television, having gotten his breakout role in 2023’s Past Lives. Yoo recently appeared in the Netflix K-drama Love to Hate You, so The Recruit will be an interesting chance for him to further his relationship with Netflix. From the looks of the trailer, it seems like his role will be incredibly engaging.

The Recruit is a spy thriller series starring Noah Centineo and released on Netflix. Centineo will play a young lawyer at the CIA named Owen Hendricks, who “becomes enmeshed in dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the agency.” On Owen’s first week on the job, he stumbles upon a letter from former CIA asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock) that explains her intent to expose critical agency information and burn agents unless she has her record cleared of a serious crime she’s been charged with. As a result, Owen will find himself at the center of the political game inside the CIA and navigate a dangerous world while trying to leave his mark on the agency.
