Pink Guard 011’s Squid Game Season 3 Journey Teased By Star After Cliffhanger Finale

Squid Game star Park Gyu-young teases her character’s return in season 3 after her game-changing introduction in the second installment. Park plays Kang No-eul, a former soldier and North Korean defector who works as one of the masked guards for the deadly games. She’s tasked, like the others, with killing the losing players. However, she’s distinguished by the search to find her daughter and her refusal to play along with the organ donation schemes.

In an interview with ELLE, Park was asked about what’s ahead for her character when Squid Game season 3 returns in 2025. Though the actor was reluctant to reveal too much, amidst speculation about the character’s significance to the story, she did underline that No-eul has values that she intends to stick to:

I can say that, amidst all of the confusion and clash of different ideas, No-eul is a character who has a very strong set of beliefs. She sticks to her own values and has a very strong center at heart. She may seem weak, but she is very determined and strong.

What Kang No-eul Means For Squid Game Season 3

She Broadens The Perspective

In the same interview, the thriller star is asked about the possible connection between No-eul and Park Gyeong-seok / Player 246 (played by Lee Jin-wook). She answers that because her security guard character is looking for her daughter when everyone around her seems to have given up, she understands what Player 246 is going through. It leaves the connections between the Squid Game characters open, giving the series a rare opportunity to explore the Pink Guards as one of the main storylines.

Is Player 246 Dead In Squid Game Season 2? Gyeong-seok’s Fate Explained

Squid Game season 2 featured an explosive finale that saw several prominent characters laid to rest, but 246’s fate may still hang in the balance.

Because of her circumstances and her refusal to indulge in the organ donor scheme, some are betting that No-eul will find herself forced to be a player in Squid Game season 3. It would add, on the whole, another level of urgency to Ne-oul’s search for her daughter if that happens.

There is one strong theory about No-eul’s story, especially after the Squid Game season 2 cliffhanger ending. While No-eul shoots Player 246, there are doubts that the player is dead. The main theory is that No-eul purposefully shot him so that he could be taken to the organ harvesting room in an attempt to save his life. This speculation became more convincing when Park herself accidentally posted a behind-the-scenes photo, in which she is sitting next to a pink guard that seemingly looks like Jin-wook. If so, that would align with Park’s comments about No-eul’s journey and motives.

Our Take On Kang No-eul’s Squid Game Fate

She Likely Won’t Get A Happy Ending

It seems to be the case that, after the Squid Game season 2 finale, Ne-oul will likely sacrifice herself in the show’s episodes. Likely, after finding out what happened to her child, or perhaps finding out that her child is happy and healthy without her, the sympathetic guard may end her life in a way that somewhat accounts for the terrible things she’s done already. However, if there is any chance of a happy ending, it’s most likely that Player 246 will be key in upholding her strong values.
