Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Ghosts season 4, episode 18!Ghosts star Román Zaragoza has addressed whether the ghost trap could be key to leaving the mansion, and if it will be explored in the future. Ghosts season 4, episode 18 prominently featured the idea of using a ghost trap to help Sass (Zaragoza) leave the mansion to meet Shiki (Crystle Lightning) in person after establishing a long-distance relationship with her. However, doing so could have resulted in his possible death, leading Thor (Devan Chandler Long) to swoop in and stop him before he could go through with it.
Speaking with ScreenRant, Zaragoza unpacked the possibility that the ghost trap could be crucial to deceased characters in Ghosts getting off the Woodstone B&B’s property and out into the wider world. The actor explained they’d need to repair the trap first, questioning what could happen if even more ghosts got a chance to be able to leave the mansion’s property. Check out what Zaragoza had to say about the trap below:
That’s a great question. I think they would have to fix the ghost trap. I think there are elements of that that could come back. And who knows? Someone can get off, and who knows? There are a few ghosts that can now leave the property, so if we can add more to the mix, who knows what could happen?
What Zaragoza’s Statement Means For The Ghost Trap In The Future
Ghosts Could Use It As A Plot Device
Had Sass actually gone through with trying to meet Shiki using the ghost trap, he could have died for crossing the boundary off of Woodstone’s property. Even so, the fact there are some characters in Ghosts who are less bound to locations than many of the main spirits indicates there could be a future storyline about crossing that barrier. It would add a new element to the series, something that Zaragoza’s statement indicates would be an interesting direction for the show’s future.

“He Needs A Little Bit Of Time”: Ghosts Season 4 Episode 18 Ending Explained By Star Román Zaragoza
ScreenRant interviews star Román Zaragoza about Sasappis’ major moment with Joan and why he’s always felt a connection to Shiki in Ghosts.
However, with the ghost trap broken and sparks now flying between Sass and newcomer Joan (Taylor Ortega), it seems like the idea is going to be set aside for right now. Even so, if the group can repair it by the time Ghosts season 5 rolls around, then it could become part of another important plot, establishing a potential way for spirits to travel outside the B&B. This could lead to some hilarious new stories, especially if they’re able to interact with ghosts in various locations. However, the danger of getting destroyed while inside also means it won’t be easy.
Ghosts has been confirmed for seasons 5 and 6.
Our Take On The Ghost Trap’s Future In Ghosts
The Sitcom Could Broaden Its Horizons
There could be another reason for someone else to want to leave Woodstone, making the ghost trap relevant to the larger story once again. If that’s the case, then the object could become an important part of how the show develops going forward, especially if it comes to the forefront after it gets repaired. As for when Ghosts is going to see it come back, nothing is certain, but it seems like the idea of using it again isn’t off the table.
New episodes of Ghosts air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
